Space Hopper
Space Hopper: the most recommended debut of 2021 | Helen Fisher
5 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
THE MOST EXTRAORDINARY DEBUT OF 2021 I really enjoyed Space Hopper. Its such an unusual, intriguing novel. Its the first in ages that actually *interested* me. Marian Keyes This is a story about taking a leap of faith And believing the unbelievable They say those we love never truly leave us, and Ive found that to be true. But not in the way you might expect. In fact, none of this is what youd expect. Ive been visiting my mother who died when I was eight. And Im talking about flesh and blood, tea-and-biscuits-on-the-table visiting here. Right now, you probably think Im going mad. Let me explain Although Faye is happy with her life, the loss of her mother as a child weighs on her mind even more now that she is a mother herself. So she is amazed when, in an extraordinary turn of events, she finds herself back in her childhood home in the 1970s. Faced with the chance to finally seek answers to her questions but away from her own family how much is she willing to give up for another moment with her mother? Space Hopper is an original and poignant story about mothers, memories and moments that shape life.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

Our loved ones never leave us? Is that true?
The whole book is not what I expected but in an intriguing way! Faye lost her mum when she was a child but was taken in by a lovely couple. She now has her own family but in a twist of events she is transported back to her childhood in the 1970s. Faced with her mother and a chance to find out answers, how much harm could the truth cause?
The writing is heartfelt and captivating as well as poignant.

This would have been a low pick, but the ending was so good it moved it up! I really didn‘t see it coming and it was very clever.
It‘s about time travel but don‘t expect any science it just is, accept it (like faith!) and read on.
