Isn't it great when you meet one of your favourite authors? Isn't great when he's in your bookshop buying books? And isn't it great when it turns out that he's an absolute lovable guy?

I'm a bigger fan now than before 😍

JamieArc Amazing experience! I still geek out when I even think of when I‘ve had those experiences 🤩 12mo
Jari-chan @JamieArc Totally relatable! It's the same to me 🤭 12mo

Kalmann is one of the last remaining fishermen specialised in hunting sharks in a small remote Icelandic town. An outsider because of his learning difficulties and struggles in social situations, he is often ridiculed but is deeply rooted in the town community. The mystery is only ok, outstanding is the main character and the way the story is told through his perspective, thoughts, observations, comments and memories.

My grandmother died when I was in my mother's stomach and living with her in Keflavík, she died in front of the TV, in the middle of an evening programme. She just stayed sitting there, even though she was no longer watching. It took a while for Grandfather to realize, because when someone's sitting in front of the TV, it's kind of hard to say whether they're alive or dead.

Vansa What a concluding sentence 😂😂😂 So true when I see my parents watching news on Indian TV, one would have to be brain dead to consume it,truly! 2y

"So you're Kalmann the shark catcher, right?"

Suddenly feeling self-conscious, I nodded and looked down at the floor. I like it when people call me a shark catcher. People usually call me something else. I looked around surreptitiously, but there was no one who could have heard, here in the school where I'd been called so many names. No witnesses. It was a shame.

I didn't expect the author to be a fellow from my home canton - but he is. Enough reason to try his book. Set in Iceland, because our home isn't cold enough and Schmidt moved there a couple of years ago 😁

This book is told by an unreliabale narrator - love it! Schmidt really gets his MC and his way of telling what supposedly happend shows great writing skills. I hope there'll soon be more books by Schmidt!

Nitty There are three other books already by the author. Highly recommend his 1st one ‚In Küstennähe!‘ 2y
Jari-chan @Nitty This book is already on my TBR - I'm really looking forward zo reading more by him 😊 2y

Thank you for the tag @rachaich

Grateful for: the Grittibänz I just ate, for my job and my boss, hubbie, cats & family. For my afternoon off work, so I can do some #LitsyLove and read some good books. Also grateful for my tiny oven in the office to keep me warm right now 😁

There's always something to looking forward to! For me it's mostly my next meal or my next Cola Zero 😋

I'm looking forward to:
- Fondue tonight
- meeting for lunch with my aunt next Wednesday (I've mentioned her three times during this week now)
- the daily opening of the advent calender my friend my for me in December
- a whole new reading year in 2021 with no physical TBR

#kindnessandpositivityweek #day7 @Andrew65 @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks

Andrew65 Great positivity.😍😍😍 (edited) 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks Wait... you don‘t have a tbr list?? No physical tbr? (edited) 3y
Jari-chan @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I do have a list, but it's more a list of ideas of books I could read. And after December I will have my physical TBR books down to zero, yes. I got to stressed out by books lying around unread... 😅 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @Jari-chan wow!!! You‘re my inspiration!! ❤️ 3y
