Five names on a list. The first two are dead. The third is yours. A rip-roaring, addictive, intense and emotional thriller for fans of Lucy Foley, Ruth Ware, Phoebe Morgan, CL Taylor and Lisa Jewell... * * * * * * * Beth Belmont runs every day, hard and fast on the trail near home. She knows every turn, every bump in the road. So when she spots something out of place - a slip of white paper at the base of a tree - she's drawn to it. On the paper are five names. The third is her own. Beth can't shake off the unease the list brings. Why is she on it? And what ties her to the other four strangers? Then she discovers that the first two are dead. Is she next? Delving into the past of the two dead strangers, the truth Beth finds will lead her headlong into her darkest, deadliest and most dangerous nightmares...

An enjoyable listen

Netgalley really needs to work on the audio quality. I cannot make it through the book, and it‘s not because of the book.

Bailedbailed

I was craving a popcorn read & it's been awhile since I've read one of those thrillers that you just want to inhale. Not sure why I picked it up, but comparisons to Lucy Foley & Ruth Ware probably did the trick. Anyway, somewhere around Chap 12, as the protagonist sat & worried about the list which had her name on it and what it all meant, I realised I did not give a flying fuck about "the list" or why her name was on it. So that's that.

batsy The search for a thriller that fits my mood continues... 4y
Cathythoughts Great review 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I‘m still searching for that thriller too. Have you tried 4y
batsy @Cathythoughts Thank you! And no, I haven't! I've been meaning to read more of him because I enjoyed Stepford Wives ❤️ 4y

Ruthiella Bummer! I often find the plot machinations of thrillers too beyond belief for me to buy into! ☹️ 4y
LeahBergen 😂😂 Great bail review! 4y
GingerAntics I hate when that happens. So sorry. 4y
Centique 😂😂😂 oh that‘s brilliant! Good luck finding your thriller 🤞 4y
conorpunchbook 😝well done @batsy life‘s too short 4y
NikkiM5 😂 all the way to chapter 12. I stop fighting book bail out by chapter 5. 4y
LitStephanie Thanks for the warning, made me laugh! 4y

erzascarletbookgasm Hahahaha! Love your review! 4y
CarolynM 😂😂😂 4y
batsy @Ruthiella I can enjoy them when I'm in the mood for them, but I do need solid writing and decent plotting/characterisation. At the very least the author should seem interested in their own story 😂 4y
batsy @LeahBergen Thanks 😂 4y
batsy @GingerAntics I still resist bailing because I feel bummed that a book I tried out didn't "work out"... Weird I know, lol 4y
batsy @NikkiM5 In my defence, short chapters! Though I was also kind of hoping I'd start caring about this damn list 😂 4y
batsy @Cathythoughts I have a copy thanks to the lovely @erzascarletbookgasm and I just started, but I'm hooked! Thanks so much for the rec 👌🏽💗 4y
Cathythoughts And it‘s you who gifted me my lovely copy .... a couple of years ago or more. It‘s very good. It‘s always stayed in my mind. The good ones eventually come to the surface .... look forward to your thoughts ✨ 4y
RohitSawant 🤣🤣 Felt like this about a movie I was watching yesterday. 4y
GingerAntics That‘s not weird. I do that, too. I can be really annoyed with a book and still keep reading a while before I bail, if I bail at all. 4y
batsy @Cathythoughts Oh, I'd forgotten! That's so cool that we've had this gifted between ourselves ❤️ It's very gripping. And his writing is top notch. 4y
batsy @rohit-sawant Haha! I'm curious to know which one? 😁 4y
batsy @GingerAntics Yeah, for sure. Sometimes books surprise you and it's worth the wait. 4y
GingerAntics Right? I‘m always hoping books I eventually bail on are just slow starters, but sometimes they‘re just not. 4y
RohitSawant @batsy I remember reading something vaguely good about Netflix's Girl on the Third Floor but lost interest a few minutes in. Especially after this guy points to his dog and says "Don't shit inside the house." Apart from the wooden characters, it seemed like someone figured out "How to horror movie" and had a go. It supposedly gets better, at least visually, later but I think it's gonna be a while before I finish it. 4y
RohitSawant And sorry for rambling. I think I really wanted to get that off my chest 😆 I was especially pissed 'cause I hadn't watched anything for days since I was occupied with work. I was really looking forward to kick back and watch something enjoyable. Anyway, I started with the latest season of The End of the F***ing World recently and it's pretty awesome so thank God for that. 4y
batsy @rohit-sawant Don't apologise for rambling! Rambling is my favourite genre of comment 😁 I haven't heard of that movie but I'll avoid it for now... I hate the feeling when you're stressed and just want to chill out with something and it's a let-down. I watched a cheesy dystopian series recently on Netflix, Into the Night, that turned out to be a lot of fun, the right kind of cheese, and exactly the kind of binge watch I needed! 4y
RohitSawant @batsy With you on Into the Night being a cheesy, fun ride! Was pleasantly surprised by it. 4y
