Pickpick

My last audiobook had a similar topic and I sometimes caught myself confusing characters and plot lines. I liked the narration about the problems of “normal” daily life during war and those problems that – maybe especially – refugees experience. I ended up choosing “Pick” for this inconvenient focus.

Yes, I liked it and it will maybe remain in my memory for some days but it definitely won‘t become one of my favourites.

“And he loves me, she thought and just couldn‘t believe it. John Cudmore loves me! She felt like the others should be able to see this when they look at her. It must be that she changed by this. She stared at her own face in the window and surprisingly learnt, that she looked like always.” (p. 177)

⬆️⬆️⬆️ Oh, I can so much relate to Anna in the chapter 18 because I remember very well, that back then I felt absolutely the same.

How stupid can a book addict be❓🤦🏽‍♀️ I had seen yesterday in the late evening, that my e-reader is low on energy and decided to cable it on for the night. – But then, guess what, I forgot, and as I returned about 2 hours ago, it showed me the above display of only having 3% of energy left. Too little to continue reading, although I wanted to.

But I found a nice occupation instead: I browsed my new follower @thewallflower0707 ‘s feed. 😊

thewallflower0707 Glad I could entertain you for a bit 😅. NSA is also on my list, did you enjoy it? It‘s really heavy (800 pages). 4y
Buechersuechtling I did not yet start. 😇 As soon as I‘m done with “🇬🇧 The other way round” [„🇩🇪 warten bis der Frieden kommt“], it will be next. So, if you stay tuned, you will be sure to be kept informed about my thoughts on it. 4y

1. 📖 “The other way round” by Judith Kerr
🎧 „Der Apfelbaum“ by Christian Berkel

2. “Gier” by Marc Elsberg, if asked for “recommended”; “Das Geschenk” by Sebastian Fitzek, if asked for “received”

3. “My” Litsy community. ❤️ Whenever I peek in here, you‘re supportive, warm, open and friendly. That helps me a lot during this last week.

I have no idea why I thought this would be a comfort read. There‘s so many details about both WW that I tend to forget … E.g. that non-British were arrested because Britain feared a German attack and that the Germans living in 🇬🇧 then would changed sides.

This book impressively shows what this means for a student.

#24b4Extend-result

✅ Finish „Gier“ by Marc Elsberg (audiobook)

✅ Finish Blake Crouch‘s “Dark Matter”

✅ Get between 100 and 150 pages read in the 2nd “Pink-Rabbit”-book by Judith Kerr: Made it to page 108.

Makes about 42 hours, 10 minutes in total. 🙌🏼

It was fun, although a bit demanding in the end – I‘m sooo tired 💤.
Thanks to all who participated, especially to @Andrew65 ‼️

Checks out, Friday, 3th April 2020 at 23:37 o‘clock. 👋🏼

Believe it or not‼️😄 I am _finally_ starting with this one and really looking forward to it because the first one was so cosy and sweet although the topic/background of the topic was so severe.

I hope that it will be doing me good on this again very busy day.
Therefore it‘s good to know, that #24b4Extend lasts until today, 23:59 o‘clock. This might give me enough time to also sneak in some bites of chocolate 🍫 during reading. 😇

@MoonWitch94 That‘s a really nice idea that lifts my at the moment sad spirits‼️🤗

🦋 A friend of mine gifted me 2 filtering face pieces she has sewed and only accepted 1-2 beers in return when we‘re allowed to go to the pub again.

(📸: The day before yesterday‘s newspaper)

This afternoon I went to the bakery and bought buns and 3 bread rolls, paid and left. 10 minutes later I noticed that accidentally the bread rolls hadn‘t been charged, so I went back to explain and pay them. The clerk and all the other customers were surprised I did. But I felt that especially in this crisis I mustn‘t steal, even if it‘s goods for “only” $ 2.

Is this just me❓ What would you have done❓

Branwen I would have done the same thing! 💕 4y

A friend whom I know for a bit more than 10 years died last night. I knew he had an illness but I didn‘t know how serious it obviously must have been and how much his health deteriorated in the last months, so the news of him passing away has shaken me.

I would love to write a letter to his wife – but I can‘t yet. It feels like the right words are still gathering. So I‘m sitting here, feeling empty, wishing I had some paint I could watch drying.

Wow, I moved up in that queue very fast. This should have been available not before the 11th of May.

Well, there you go, time travel _is_ possible. 😉

Now I‘m juggling with 5 loans. 3 books and 2 audiobooks. To sequence the books will be interesting.

“The Nuns of Sant‘Ambrogio” I am already reading, so it is set. I‘d love to read “Dark Matter” soon but maybe I prepone the tagged one (“The other way round”) because I assume it‘s the faster read.

I was very surprised that “When Hitler stole pink Rabbit” is volume 1 of a trilogy.

After finding this out, I certainly searched my library‘s catalogue for the rest of the series. Sadly it‘s not complete but I immediately put volume 2 on hold.

It will be available by the middle of May, I hope.
