The Collected Stories of Lorrie Moore
The Collected Stories of Lorrie Moore | Lorrie Moore
3 posts | 1 read | 4 to read
Since the publication of Self-Help, her first collection of stories, Lorrie Moore has been hailed as one of the greatest and most influential voices in American fiction. Her ferociously funny, soulful stories tell of the gulf between men and women, the loneliness of the broken-hearted and the yearned-for, impossible intimacies we crave. Gathered here for the first time in a beautiful hardback edition is the complete stories along with three new and previously unpublished in book form: Paper Losses, The Juniper Tree, Debarking.

Listening to this at work to try and keep me awake during the post-lunch slump. Have you heard this podcast? I love it!

I'm a huge fan of #shortstories and got overwhelmed by the number I have when I started going through my shelves, so here are two "collected stories" titles from two of my favorites. (Also, I kind of love that the books match.) #somethingforseptember #septphotochallenge #somethingforsept

I-read-and-eat Great picture! I actually never read any short stories. Is there a collection you can recommend? 8y
RealLifeReading Ooh Lydia Davis 8y
katedensen @I-read-and-eat I'd be happy to recommend a collection! Who are some of your favorite authors? What kind of fiction do you gravitate toward? @RealLifeReading She's awesome ☺️ 8y

I-read-and-eat @katedfisher I read a lot of fantasy and historical fiction. But recently I have been getting more into modern realism. (Orhan Pamuk, Jonathan Safran Foer, Hanya Yanagihara and such ) But I am open to any suggestion. 8y
katedensen @I-read-and-eat For a blend of fantasy and modern realism, try Kelly Link's Get in Trouble--I'd describe it as magical realism, which sounds like it might be up your alley. 8y
I-read-and-eat @katedfisher That sounds like a great read! Putting it on my to buy list. I'll let you know how I liked in when I read it. Thanks for the recommendation! 😊 8y
