I got this book as an ARC from net galley - and I loved it!
What a great story of generations of a family in Brazil. I could have kept reading even after it ended!

I finished this one late last night. It is obvious that this book is more than just a novel to author @Izai.Amorim
Spanning three generations and 100 years, Liberty Farm covers a lot of ground. Parts of this book really reminded me of 3 books I hold in high regard The Bible, East of Eden & The Good Earth. This story has feuding brothers, jealous siblings, fights for the affection of a father & the bitterness of birthrights & inheritance👇🏽

Cinfhen There is a loving mother but she favors one son above another and Ezra the patriarch demands respect and loyalty but he too plays favorites amongst his children. There‘s arguments over education vs farming, and what constitutes success. Watching certain cycles repeated broke my heart. This book really came alive for me in the second half. An emotionally told story. 4y

Cinfhen What a labor of love @Izai.Amorim ♥️🙌🏻It‘s a really vivid story of the turn of the century @squirrelbrain @merelybookish @TrishB @Texreader in a different part of the world. There was one paragraph that really stood out for me & im paraphrasing but the implication was that with all the advances accomplished in 100 years the birth of a daughter was still viewed as “ a waste of a swollen belly” 💔 (edited) 4y

Started this ARC written by our very own @Izai.Amorim 😊
It‘s easy to see this was a true labor of love💙
The cover art is fantastic/ is that a family portrait of a relative ?!?
Though classified as fiction, this feels much more like a family memoir.

squirrelbrain I have this on my #netgalley #arc list to read too! 4y
Cinfhen I realized that my ARC expires July 20/ so I thought I better read it now @squirrelbrain 4y
Izai.Amorim Thank you! I hope you enjoy it. It wasn‘t an easy book to write. Yes, that‘s a family member. Very old picture. I believe this cover sums up the story pretty well. 4y

@Izai.Amorim is an author and Litsy reader! I'm glad I got to read his family saga set in Brazil early (the book will be available this year in the fall). I loved the family dynamics and could relate to Helena. She made many sacrifices for her daughters to have opportunities and options. I loved her for that. Also enjoyed the descriptions of the farm, historical facts and dreams interwoven in the story.

Izai.Amorim Thank you very much for your review!
I hope you and your family are well — and stay well — in these difficult corona times. In the end, something good will come out of this. But until then, it will be tough.

I had the opportunity to read this book last fall and loved it. If you enjoy historical family sagas, I highly recommend... it‘s on NetGalley now, publishes in September.

Thanks so much to the brilliant @Izai.Amorim for letting me read advance copies, and for this beautiful hardcover (and bonus book of photos!). 😃

Crazeedi Following your blog! I saw this on Net Galley 4y

Izai.Amorim Thank you so much for your kind words, dear @sprainedbrain , and for your valuable feedback last fall.

I hope you enjoy the "twin projects." Due to the printing techniques available for print on demand, one must choose the same paper quality and ink (b&w or color) for all pages in a book. This makes it unaffordable to have nice color pictures in the novel. The elegant solution is to make two books

sprainedbrain @Izai.Amorim the black and white photos in the book look great, but I really appreciate the color photos as well. Beautiful! 4y
