The First Week
The First Week | R. D. Trimble
2 posts
The First Week of school begins for Hugo Finley, the new kid in San Diego and in school. Fitting in to the sixth grade will not be easy for a shy kid with no friends, but he is determined to do his best. Join Hugo on three different adventures starting with his first Little League game, where he is pressed into pitching against the toughest game of the league. Then to the first day of school, where he encounters the local bully, and finally to a tournament of Lazer Wars, where he seeks revenge against those who made his first week so difficult. Filled with good humor appropriate for kids of all ages and a moral about not giving up, this will be a story that will make you laugh and warm your heart!

Chrissyreadit That looks like an uphill climb! And great picture! 2y
Gissy @Chrissyreadit Thank you! Yes! We try sometimes to avoid that hill but I take my time to do it. My knees are not the same at this age. I look happy in the photo but I was only in mile almost 14. In other photos I look like this🤪 It took me forever to complete the whole distance of 26.2 miles, but I did it☺️ (edited) 2y

mabell Love this photo! What a gorgeous place to run! (I would be walking that hill 😆) Is that the top of a cruise ship in the background? 2y
Chrissyreadit Slow and steady finishes the race ❤️❤️❤️ AMAZING 2y
Gissy @mabell That is one of the entrance to Old San Juan. At the end of that street you will see the cruise docks if I‘m correct in the word. At my right,(your left) you see San Cristobal Fort and like 2/3 minutes running, is El Morro Fort. The street is empty because it was early in the morning but Old SJ is always full of tourists and locals. That day there was a 5k race sponsored by a breast cancer organization. There is always an event in Old SJ. 2y
StayCurious everything looks great to me! I'm so impressed - great job! 2y
WanderingBookaneer ¡La cuesta de la Norza Garay! Ufff 2y
Gissy @WanderingBookaneer Así mismo! La subo ya no tan rápido. Los años pasan y te pasan factura😆 2y
mabell My memory is fuzzy on Old San Juan, when I visited I stayed with friends in Humacao, so we did a little bit in different places. I remember the beach and El Yunque - it‘s been too many years! I‘d love to go back and revisit. 🇵🇷 It seems like it would be tough to have an event in the middle of such a busy place! 2y
Gissy @mabell Yes! PR has changed specially after Maria Hurricane, earthquakes and the pandemic. But there are fun activities to do. When I visit SJ, I go early in the morning and when people start to arrive, after mid day I‘m out of the place😅In terms of running, Old SJ and Condado is on our route all the time. There are 5 miles from Central Park to SJ and 5 to return. Four if we decide to do less miles. To Condado is more or less the same. 2y

The first week of 2020 is more good than bad.
It is also less bad than the first week of 2019, when I crashed my new bike twice in one day.
This time I just broke a toe, directly caused by the happy dance from almost-finishing The Winter Companion by Mimi Mathews!!
#clutterklutz #newyear #omens #blackbeansoup #toeproblems #homemadechai #beancat

julesG Ouch! Hope the toe is not too much of a bother. 4y
