Oh my. Talk about messed up serial killer investigation. Nothing goes right. Clues that lead to nothing, people getting killed right and left, and the cops running around attempting to get a handle on this killer.

Definitely not for the faint of heart. Blood and gore and cooking humans. Great Tartan Noir!

“Twenty years ago 'The Flesher' was butchering people all over the UK - turning victims into oven-ready joints - until Grampian's finest put him away. But 11 years later he was out on appeal. Now he's missing, and people are dying again.

When members of the original investigation start to disappear, Detective Sergeant Logan McRae realises the case might not be as clear cut as everyone thinks....”

This was a re-read for me. Definitely the goriest-and still my fav-of the series so far (I‘ve read to Bk9).

There‘s one part at the end where the timeline doesn‘t quite make sense and in retrospect I now recall going back and re-reading that part the first time I read this too to catch what happened, but still an intense read.
❤️ McRae and all his quirky police buddies!

This is the fourth book in the Macrae series and one of the most grisly so far! As always the characters are well developed and there‘s an ongoing story with the recurring characters. It‘s quite a chunky book and there‘s a lot of twists before they discover the suspect. Looking forward to the next book in the series but may need a break to read something more cheerful!

Bk4 in the Logan McCrae series, and it's a very gruesome one. Definitely enough to give you nightmares, enough to make you have a 2nd look at that meat on your plate. DS McCrae is called in when a broken shipping container turns out to have pieces of human in it. Investigating further, he discovers that not only are they in the container, but the butchers and abattoir has pieces mixed in with the meat being sold to customers all over Aberdeen.🤢
