#TuneIntoNovember #Promises My thoughts for this prompt went immediately to The Promise-be still my teenage heart!💓I read it a bunch of times (I had the battered yellow copy in the corner) & saw the movie A LOT-renting the VHS or watching it when it played on TV. I never realized until looking for pics-that the movie came first & Steel novelized it. Such good soapy, Kleenex-needed entertainment & maybe a rite of passage in the late 70s-80s.😍😢😘

Cinfhen I don‘t remember this one!! Need to do some Google investigative work.... 6y
CatLass007 Flashback! 6y
susanw I remember seeing this in the movies as a teenager too! I never knew it got novelized, let alone by Ms Steele! 6y

Today's author spotlight: Danielle (Fernandes Dominique Schuelein-) Steel! The 69-year-old NYC native is currently the bestselling author alive, and the 4th bestselling fiction writer of all time with 800 million copies sold in 43 languages, with 22 titles adapted for tv. She spent 381 consecutive weeks on the NYT Bestseller List, more consecutively than anyone else. She's been married 5 times and has 9 children. #AuthorPotpourri #TheMoreYouKnow

Reecaspieces Wow! 9 children! But she was a staple in my teenage years. I remember staying up all night to read The Ring! Love that book (edited) 7y
Bambolina_81 @Reecaspieces Message from Nam was the same for me 😁 7y

emilyesears Oh man nostalgia!! I read soooo many DS books in middle school...probably was not a good age-appropriate choice. My favorite from back then was definitely Mirror Image. Twin sisters switching places! One being a nurse in France! One pretending to be the wife of her sister's husband who she's been in love with forever!! The sheer incredulity of that plot! Haha, I should get it from the library and read it again. 7y
Reecaspieces @Bambolina_81 oh that was an excellent one as well!! And so was 7y
Reecaspieces Oh and zoya 7y
MamaGina I remember being in 8th grade and her DEBUT novel was SO popular!🤓 7y

In 1981 (at the age of 15) my parents took us from sunny Qld to the UK for three years. We went on a caravan holiday to Bournemouth and I bought The Promise to read on the beach. This is me in the pink skirt and warm jumper, reading it behind the very necessary windbreaker. Over the years I collected lots more DS books but in the end I only kept this one.

DebinHawaii What a fun blast from the past. I must have read this book a bazillion times in Jr high & high school and had a copy but didn't keep it. 💜 7y
MaleficentBookDragon I so want this book. I did not realize it was a DS book.I ❤️💜💙🖤💚 the movie when I was a tween. I actually still have it on VHS. I can't find it on DVD. (edited) 7y
