Fifty years after The Andromeda Strain made Michael Crichton a household nameand spawned a new genre, the technothrillerthe threat returns, in a gripping sequel that is terrifyingly realistic and resonant. The Evolution is Coming. In 1967, an extraterrestrial microbe came crashing down to Earth and nearly ended the human race. Accidental exposure to the particledesignated The Andromeda Strainkilled every resident of the town of Piedmont, Arizona, save for an elderly man and an infant boy. Over the next five days, a team of top scientists assigned to Project Wildfire worked valiantly to save the world from an epidemic of unimaginable proportions. In the moments before a catastrophic nuclear detonation, they succeeded. In the ensuing decades, research on the microparticle continued. And the world thought it was safe Deep inside Fairchild Air Force Base, Project Eternal Vigilance has continued to watch and wait for the Andromeda Strain to reappear. On the verge of being shut down, the project has registered no activityuntil now. A Brazilian terrain-mapping drone has detected a bizarre anomaly of otherworldly matter in the middle of the jungle, and, worse yet, the tell-tale chemical signature of the deadly microparticle. With this shocking discovery, the next-generation Project Wildfire is activated, and a diverse team of experts hailing from all over the world is dispatched to investigate the potentially apocalyptic threat. But the microbe is growingevolving. And if the Wildfire team cant reach the quarantine zone, enter the anomaly, and figure out how to stop it, this new Andromeda Evolution will annihilate all life as we know it.

41/150 When I was reading The Andromeda Strain, it felt like the script to a documentary, very straight forward and just the facts. This felt more like a found footage film, pieces put together after the fact, some speculation on what actually happened. It's still an interesting sequel to the original, although the ending was a bit farfetched. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

When it all began again, Paulo Arana would have been bored.

Started off loving it, but kind of lost interest towards the end. It was a bit too much. But overall, entertaining read with lots of action.

So here‘s a Book Outlet haul that I received today. Pleased to have these beautiful books and yet ... I need a bigger house or a more thorough book purging soon. I‘ve read the Crichton book and adding the other 6 to Mt TBR! 😁 #BookHaul

wanderinglynn Awesome haul! 3y
Twainy @wanderinglynn I‘m a sucker for BookOutlet! It‘s like 7 books for the price of 2. I‘m sort of annoyed with myself as I also did the Anazon 3 for 2 & $5 Audible sales. 14 books. I MUST purge! 😫 3y
LibrarianRyan I have to get to Deviate. 3y
Twainy @LibrarianRyan it‘s a pretty book ... I‘m hoping it‘s a trilogy or I‘ll have to buy book 4 too. 3y

I am almost finished and I ahve been enrapted in this book. I have been ill the past few days and too tired to focus my eyes to read and I am frustrated because I want to know what happens next. A good sequel to a good book.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.

The book was so good I had hard time putting it down read it in two days, if it hadn‘t been for sleep one day would have been enough.

Picking up groceries in my husband‘s car. I am so glad he is a reader and always has his book in the car for when he gets to work early. He doesn‘t read as much as me but he reads 📚

I enjoyed this story immensely! This Wildfire team is far more diverse, including an anthropologist, and a roboticist who has a small flock of 'canary' drones. Another member is an astronaut on the ISS. There's definitely more action and diversity in this story. The ending was neat too, though it does stretch the imagination. Andromeda continues to evolve. It's here to stay. I hope there's sequel! I'd love to see further evolutions.

smjohns I just purchased this book and pulled it up on another book app, and there is a third. He can‘t find anyone to publish it!! 3y
DrJAdMerricksson @smjohns what??!! That's special... /Evolution/ was good. I'd read a third for sure. 3y

I felt as if I was reading a Ben Affleck movie in which our group of heroes try to save the world by outsmarting every possible scientific destruction. Mildly entertaining, preposterous, and scientifically alluring.

🎧 this was a difficult review. I wanted to LOVE this book. The narrator is well known but she was lukewarm reading this book. It might be due to the book being written like a government document/report. I can say that I loved the ending!! The last 20% really interested me the rest was just ok. I know, not a glowing review but it‘s worth a read. I don‘t regret it. I hope there‘s another book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
