What happens when your life is a rom-com...but you don't even believe in true love? Chloe Sanderson is an optimist, and not because her life is easy. As the sole caregiver for her father, who has early onset Alzheimer's, she's pretty much responsible for everything. She has no timeor interestin getting swept up in some dazzling romance. Not like her best friend Annie, who literally wrote a rom-com that's about to premiere in theaters across America...and happens to be inspired by Chloe and Nick Velez, Chloe's cute but no-nonsense boss. As the buzz for the movie grows, Chloe reads one too many listicles about why Nick is the perfect man, and now she can't see him as anything but Reason #2: The Scruffy-Bearded Hunk Who's Always There When You Need Him. But unlike the romance Annie has written for them, Chloe isn't so sure her own story will end in a Happily Ever After.

After enjoying Waiting for Tom Hanks, I jumped right into this one about Annie's best friend, Chloe. I didn't like this one quite as well, mainly because Chloe's adamant, borderline-aggressive, horrified-at-the-mere-thought attitude towards marriage and having children did grate on me after a while. Like I get it. Marriage isn't for you. Now maybe quit hating on it and move on?? There were many aspects of Chloe's life that I empathized with, ⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) and it really made me miss our coffee shop A LOT, but this one was more of a soft pick for me, just because Chloe felt like such a self-destructive person in so many ways. It was still a lot of fun, though, & this one did feel like a more realistic romance, if that makes sense, than the first book. Still a pick, but I'm not as sure I see myself rereading this one. 6mo

I'm very behind on posting things. Turns out it's still hard to finish a book with an 8 month old! I thought this was cute. It was very predictable but I'm ok with that. It's exactly what I needed 🙂

A sequel to Waiting for Tom Hanks, this is a rom-com about Chloe & Nick. Annie, the MC in Tom Hanks, is still an important character. Chloe is coping with family issues, getting ready for Annie‘s wedding & the premiere of Annie‘s movie, plus a romance with her boss. I enjoyed the humor, romance, & revisiting quirky characters. The Book Loft gets a mention but no scene inside it this time.
This is my #bookspin for March. @TheAromaofBooks

This was so fun and a great escape from literally everything. I‘m Internet pals with the author so I‘m a bit biased but I think Kerry has a great grasp on romcoms and her books are cute and fun. And this was my 80th book this year!

This semi-sequel to Waiting For Tom Hanks was cute, but missed that certain something to grab my attention. The first book sort of sets up the second a little *too* well. The second reason this one didn't grab me as much was because the hook of the original was predicated on the Tom Hanks/pop culture obsession. I connected with this aspect. That being said, Winfrey is definitely carving a path for a patented blend of sweet tooth romantic comedies.

Summer blockbuster 🎥

valeriegeary How are you liking this one? Did you read Waiting for Tom Hanks? 2y
Sharpeipup @valeriegeary I read both & prefer the first one. In this one, Chloe is just too much...whiny, needy, loud, and ungrateful. 2y
valeriegeary @Sharpeipup oh disappointing! She was such a good character in the first one! 2y

This series is pretty much a hallmark movie, and I have to admit I love them. This one did not disappoint.

Definetly not as good as the first book (Waiting for Tom Hanks) in my opinion but I did like the character development and stuggle that made Chloe who she was and how this book tied up some loose ends from the first.a solid 3☆ read.

I‘m so glad I have other Littens who understand my obsession with books. Went to library to pick up holds. A church in my Presbytery is doing a book study on White Fragility, & since I‘ll be reading 2 chapters each week, CD will work well for #audiocooking. Went to bookstore, ordered 2 books (exchanging defective book & Leslie Jordan‘s) plus bought BF to support authors of color & because I love it. Got excited when I found the new Winfrey!

Sarahreadstoomuch I‘d happily read all of these! But I‘m kind of leaning toward Widow of Rose House because it seems like a different kind of story. But, honestly, all of the them. 😊 2y
TheAromaofBooks These all sound super fun to me - I haven't read any of them, although now I've stacked them all 😂 (edited) 2y
Allylu I haven‘t read any of them either. I would read any of them. 2y

Reading this fun and touching arc made me realize I absolutely have a ship type and it's hyberverbal emotional disaster woman plus the scruffy grumpy kitchen-talented man who loves her. Chloe and Nick were my favorite part of Waiting for Tom Hanks and getting to see their story play out in this sequel was so satisfying! They have great banter and chemistry and I liked Chloe's overall character arc in particular.
Out on July 7 🥧

Graciouswarriorprincess I want to read this! 2y
