The Joy of Missing Out: Live More by Doing Less | Tonya Dalton
6 posts | 5 read | 12 to read
Productivity expert and CEO of inkWELL Press Productivity Co. Tonya Dalton challenges women to rethink "busy" and intentionally live with a mindset of abundance Overwhelmed. Too many women are swamped and exhausted by all they strive to do, ending most days feeling unsatisfied and unsuccessful. Tonya Dalton, productivity expert and CEO of inkWELL Press Productivity Co., offers these women a liberating shift in perspective: feeling overwhelmed isn't the result of having too much to do--it's from not knowing where to start. In her highly anticipated first book, Dalton inspires women to reject the pressure to do more, be more, and achieve more. She shows them how to focus on what's important to them and then helps them develop their own unique productivity systems. Through her proven liveWELL Method, Dalton provides actionable strategies with relevant exercises that help women to discover their purpose, clarify their priorities, simplify their lives, and finally achieve harmony by embracing the "unbalance" that is inherent in their lives. As a result, women discover they can finally live guilt-free, abundant lives--because living a life centered around their priorities results in more satisfaction and success, both at work and at home. Tonya has an upbeat personality & is convincing in her message that we can be more fulfilled by being deliberate instead of over-scheduled.

This book was extremely helpful in figuring out how to sort out priorities. I did find it hard to relate to some of the examples, though.

Book 177 of 2019
I enjoyed this true story about being overwhelmed. In our society these days it is so easy to be overwhelmed and in Dalton's case being a mother on top of everything else. I like raw and real stories and she certainly was. I think she accurately nails it on the head of what being overwhelmed is when she said “...[she] was spinning like a top but in slow motion.“ (More down below)

rather_be_reading I also really enjoyed that she was blaming herself for being overwhelmed instead of blaming other things or other people. She says, “Thought I didn't know it at the time, I was the cause of my own overwhelm.“ I know a lot of people who should read this and understand that it is okay to slow down. 4y
