Murder on Birchleaf Drive: The True Story of the Michelle Young Murder Case
Murder on Birchleaf Drive: The True Story of the Michelle Young Murder Case | Steven B. Epstein
3 posts | 3 read | 5 to read
Was Jason the monster who bludgeoned his beautiful wife to death, leaving his toddler alone for hours to walk through her blood? If so--would he get away with it? To the outside world, Jason and Michelle Young lived a storybook life--an attractive couple with great jobs, a beautiful home, a precocious two-year-old daughter, and a baby boy on the way. Soon after the 29-year-old pregnant mother's brutally beaten body was discovered on their bedroom floor, a very different picture emerged. Of a marriage crumbling at its foundation. Of a meddlesome New York mother-in-law whose running critique left Jason frustrated and angry. Of a 32-year-old man who behaved like a frat boy rebelling against adult responsibilities. MURDER ON BIRCHLEAF DRIVE documents the gripping tale of a family's marathon quest for justice, confounding crime scene evidence, persistence of law enforcement officers, and riveting courtroom combat.

This weekend has been one of supreme unproductiveness. I‘ve quite enjoyed it though, and it‘s done me the world of good, considering how much of a challenge the past week has been. I‘ve done lots of craft and colouring in, whilst listening to Audible, which has been nice. Somewhat recharged for the week ahead now 🔋 📚 🛁 👂 🎧 ✂️ 💤

I probably enjoyed this fast paced light-on-fact while heavy-on-salaciousness #truecrime novel largely because it embodies escapism at just the right time. The husband is the immediate suspect and while there‘s not a lot of physical evidence, he‘s a ginormous asshat so it doesn‘t help his case. Clearly a biased account but sometimes...if it walks like a duck...🦆🦆🤷‍♀️

I‘m hopelessly behind on reviews but this one fits the bill for the #lilithjuly prompt #heartbeat so here we are.

Michelle Young is mother to a toddler and 20 weeks pregnant when she is found brutally murdered. Her husband was away on a business trip, so 2 year old Cassidy was alone for hours, walking thru the crime scene, before an aunt came by.

Husband returned home straight away but from the start he refused to talk to investigators. 🧐🤔

Reviewsbylola The 2 year old was left alone with her dead mom for 9 hours. 😭 She walked all through the blood and smeared it on the walls. She even put her baby doll with her dead mom. 😞 @Cinfhen 5y
KarenUK Sounds horrifying... I can‘t read true crime.... it freaks me out! 5y
Reviewsbylola I‘m the opposite. I can‘t stop reading it. 😆 @KarenUK 5y
Megabooks That is horrifying! I can only read some true crime, and I don‘t think I could read this one. 😓😓 Was it the husband? Put it in spoiler tag please. 5y
Reviewsbylola Yes @megabooks and it was pretty obvious from the get go but there was really no forensic evidence tying him to it so it was a looooong road to a conviction. 5y
Cinfhen That‘s so sad 😢😢😭how is it possible that no one in the family checked in on them for 9 hours!?!!??? 5y
