There are a few YA books out right now that I‘ve heard compared to The Handmaids Tale so naturally I decided to read them all. I wasn‘t totally into this until I was close to 75% of the way through, but it‘s a super easy read and something about it kept me turning the pages. It‘s also the first of a duology, so now I‘m going to grab the sequel from the library.

Larkken I‘m just not that into dystopian fiction these days. I miss when it was a cautionary tale, not a plausible near future 😭 (edited) 2y

So after 6 months of unexpected pregnancy, sickness, migraines and neurology appointments I am finally feeling well enough to read again! I‘ve been in Morocco this week and managed to finish my first book this year 🤩 AND discovered this baby bump is excellent for hands free airplane kindle reading! 😄I‘ve missed you Littens it‘s good to be back!

Magpiegem @bewareofwords thank you, it is!! This is my third baby and it gets harder and harder to find any time to read. Especially in the first couple of years with every little one. So I need to make the most of the next three months before reading goes out the window again! Xx 5y

I'm about 50 pages in and intrigued by the story but really turned off by over the top stereotypical tweeny slang. "For serious", cutesy abbreviations, etc.

The concept of the story is different which I can appreciate but the overuse of God was ridiculous and the juvenile language was annoying. Phrases such as; bumping instead of having sex, pregg for giving birth, rilly instead of really. Melody‘s character was the more believable and likable of the twins. This magical virus that renders everyone over the age of 18 infertile is never explained, it just happens.
