It is finally done! I really hunkered down the last couple days to finish this one before it‘s publishing date. Wow. What an incredible book that has so much research to back it up. Arana speaks about the three different themes that have dominated Latin America over the last centuries - Silver (greed for natural resources), Sword (brutality) and Stone (religion) - and she did such a great job going into detail about those. I highly recommend this!

#MightyMolly was adopted today! I‘m sad to see her go but so excited that she found her forever home and people. I hope she settles in quickly. I‘m sure she‘s wondering where she‘s going. #adopted #rescueadopt

Due to some financial decisions, I decided to slow way down on buying books this year but the one goal I do have is to fill my Harry Potter shelf up completely. I really want all of them in German and Spanish so that may be the way to go.

laur89 My book buying policy this year has been (for the most part) successful: If I read a borrowed book and loved it, I buy it used to add to my shelf. Using the library and signing up for Scribd (only 9$ a month) has saved me a TON of money!! 5y
sudi I did the same thing, i had a lot of ebooks i bought on kindle but didn't read. So i'm trying to finish all of them before buying anything new. 5y
Gina I would love to get my hands on copies printed in England 5y

It‘s a work in progress but oh how this makes my heart sing. A shelf like this has been a dream for a long time.

Geeklet I am completely jealous of all of this space. 💗 5y
TheShaggyShepherd @Geeklet I still have two smaller shelves full of books upstairs that need to be moved onto this one but I think that‘ll still leave a little bit open for more. 5y

Hey everyone! I finally got my new shelves up (minus the top extension) and the gap that was left was bigger than expected (terrible measuring skills obviously). It‘s not too bad when it‘s spaces somewhat evenly but I was wondering if anybody has any other ideas on what to do with all that space (preferably something not super permanent since we want to take the shelves with us in a couple of years).

allureofbeauty Can you push them tighter together? 5y
TheShaggyShepherd @allureofbeauty yes but then it leaves one big gap which was bothering me more. 5y
allureofbeauty What if you hung string lights where the little gaps are now it might cover it up and it would be pretty if that‘s your aesthetic that is, I like it personally. 5y
TheShaggyShepherd @allureofbeauty I really like the idea of that! Sadly, our kittens probably would too. They‘re super young and stick their noses everywhere they shouldn‘t right now. 😂 5y
allureofbeauty Haha I know that feeling. Maybe an idea for the future lol 5y

I have less than two weeks left to finish this #arc for #NetGalley so I‘m trying to really hunker down on it. It is very interesting and I love talking about it with my Hispanic fiancé but it‘s also very long and dry in many spots so it‘s taking me much longer than other books to get through. But so far I have always managed to finish arcs before their publishing dates and I‘m hoping not to break that habit.

It‘s finally time to get up and take care of the animals before work but I‘m happy I got some time in with this book. I‘m not planning on finishing it during this #24in48 #readathon but I am using it as motivation to get halfway done with it. It‘s a pretty dry - though interesting - #arc from #netgalley that I want to finish soon, but this weekend I also want some less serious reads.
