First Series from Bestselling Author Julie Klassen! On a rise overlooking the Wiltshire countryside stands the village of Ivy Hill. Its coaching inn, The Bell, is its lifeblood--along with the coach lines that stop there daily, bringing news, mail, travelers, and much-needed trade. Jane Bell lives on the edge of the inn property. She had been a genteel lady until she married the charming innkeeper who promised she would never have to work in his family's inn. But when he dies under mysterious circumstances, Jane finds herself The Bell's owner, and worse, she has three months to pay a large loan or lose the place. Feeling reluctant and ill-equipped, Jane is tempted to abandon her husband's legacy and return to her former life of ease. However, she soon realizes there is more at stake than her comfort. But who can she trust to help her? Her resentful mother-in-law? Her husband's brother, who wanted the inn for himself? Or the handsome newcomer with secret plans of his own? With pressure mounting from the bank, Jane struggles to win over naysayers and turn the place around. Can Jane bring new life to the inn, and to her heart as well?

It's been stressful this week so I'm crossing my fingers that this will give me some comfort. 🤞🤞

Over 100 pages in and still hasn't caught my interest... In going to put it aside for a bit and come back to it... I hope.

It was great. It was a little slow in places, but I still really enjoyed it. I will be reading the next one in the series when it comes out.

Love! So good! If you enjoy books about quaint English villages and all the quirky people who live in them, you'll enjoy this book. I can't wait to read the next one!

I wish Litsy had a more nuanced rating system, this wasn't amazing but it was better than so-so. Family drama, slow burn read, a little religious, had a little mystery, had some romance, and is setting itself up for a series. Won't pick up the other books in the series as this book wasn't my style, but it was an enjoyable book to read - even if it took a few tries.

BeckaroniAndCheese I've had the same thought! A book isn't GREAT, but it's good, but you don't want it to be so-so. I've agonized over the rating system. I've ended up picking books so long as I didn't hate them. 7y
Cinfhen I agree with you and @BeckaroniAndCheese I'd like a WOW or a HELL YEAH option (edited) 7y
MorganNotMegan @BeckaroniAndCheese and @Cinfhen totally agree, would also like "Enjoyed", "Recommend", and "OMG BUY NOW" too 7y
Gissy You can rate them and also add these descriptive words. It will be the Litsy rating system 👍😉 7y

#FunFridayPhoto #romantsy

It seems I only have books with subtle flowers on the cover. These are all recommended #inspirationalromances, two are #Regencyromance and one is #colonialAmerican.

Sleep tight, littens! It's a snowing buckets here in Minnesota. Hope you are safe and warm, wherever you are! 🌨

BeveragesAndBooks An Elegant Facade was one of my best books surprises this past year. Enjoy! 7y

At the book launch party for Julie Klassen's new book! The first in her first ever series. It's a Regency-era village series in the vein of Lark Rise to Candleford and Cranford. She and her husband both dressed up in period dress for the occasion 👗🎩
