It really hurts to rate an Asimov as Pan, but I can't lie about me and this book... it just didn't work out. I would've DNF it, if I wasn't already 3/4 done with it... The start was promising, many questions are asked, the reader is confused as well. But the more the story continues, the duller it felt. Like Asimov didn't really care. If I had started the trilogy with this book, I wouldn't have continued with it. But since I liked ⬇

Jari-chan the third and last book, I'm going to read volume two at some point. It should get better, I hope.

Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick Not every book is for everyone. At least you can say you've read it. 🤷🏼‍♀️ 3y
Jari-chan @Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick You're totally right about that! 👍 3y

This was just bad. At times I wasn't sure what was going on, the rest of the time it was obvious and boring. I didn't like any of the characters. The love story is terrible, they can't stand each other (in a VERY teenager kind of way)but they are hot: so undying love; and then his wish that she was not an aristocrat so she could be more submissive(?)it's just like bad fanfic...except the end, that's like written by the Air Force One screenwriters👇

nanuska_153 It's very disappointing because I loved the other Asimov books that I read...and by the way, I also love Air Force One... I think it's so bad and chauvinistic that it's hilarious, I just don't enjoy the same crap in a book xD 3y
Mrs_B Yes! This is the most disappointing Asimov book! And I LOVE Asimov. 100% agree. 3y
nanuska_153 @Mrs_B that's a relief! I read the books with the robot short stories and I loved them, so decided that this year (and part of next) I would read one per month, going through the whole series in order of publication. I was so happy with my decision after January and Pebble in the Sky that I couldn't wait for this one. Now I'm looking at The Currents of Space with more caution 😅 3y

Mrs_B @nanuska_153 I can recommend the David Starr, Space Ranger series and Azazel short stories - they're some of my favourite. Don't judge Asimov on this one! 3y
catsuit_mango Oh I loved the azazel stories :) and another rarer reads the Black widowers murder stories. No sci-fi in them but very funny and clever 3y
nanuska_153 @Mrs_B @catsuit_mango cheers! I'll add those to my list! 3y

I love Asimov. But this one didn‘t stick out. Story was slow and I didn‘t particularly like the characters. In my opinion he has definitely written much better books.

Quick sci-fi read. Not deep, but entertaining enough for a tired soul.
