Hour 30 of #24in48 is just behind us, and I‘m taking my orange juice and heading for the reading chair. 🌅

I think this still-unread book has been on my shelves the longest... at least 10 years. 😳 It has a bend in the front cover, but has survived countless purges of my shelves, so it‘s a survivor. 😂

kgriffith I cataloged my oldest TBR in 2008, you‘re not alone! 😂 6y
BookishTrish I really liked this book and have been meaning to reread it 6y
Bookworm83 It‘s a good one. The first Joyce Carol Oates I ever read! 6y

I just went through all of my book cupboards to find this one but success! In 1950 Ariah Erskine becomes "The Widow Bride of the Falls" when her new husband throws himself into the Niagara Falls. #waterfalls #augustgrrrl

ReadingEnvy I am still an Oates virgin. Is this one any good? 7y
Jas16 @ReadingEnvy it has been ages since I read it but I remember really liking it. I think my favorite of hers that I have read so far is 7y

"Saying goodbye, Dirk felt a stab of pity, and annoyance, that Claudine continued to hide herself behind that ridiculous veil. She was playing the role of wounded recluse, and maybe she was trapped in that role. The Lady of Shalott waiting to be rescued."
