I just finished this for book club. We were supposed to find a book that had been made into a movie. This book was honest and deeply moving. I have a lot of respect for Sister Helen and her work.

Iā€m proud to call myself a Delawarean tonight....Our legislators, and Governor are on the way to abolishing the death penalty in our state. This is pretty awesome. Itā€s good of the state financially and morally.

I hate the movie tie-in cover of this book but I'll live with it for now. The book itself is a priceless account of the moral and spiritual consequences of the death penalty in the United States.
Helen Prejean lends a #helpinghand in the form of spiritual advice and counsel that she provides to Patrick Sonnier, a convicted killer on death row.

If we believe that murder is wrong and not admissible in our society, then it has to be wrong for everyone, not just individuals but governments as well.
