In The Mislaid Magician, it is 1828 and the cousins are now society matrons. The steam engine is announcing its arrival and the shaking of the locomotives begins to disrupt Englands ancient, underground magical ley lines. When the disappearance of a foreign diplomat threatens to become an international incident, Cecelia departs to fight for the future of magicleaving Kate to care for a gaggle of disobedient, spell-casting tots. I really enjoyed these books, although between illness and a short-notice move, it took me a month to get through all three! They are a lot of fun, and are all written as letters or journal entries by the main characters (Cecelia, Kate, and their significant others). ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
