Fables Vol. 2: Animal Farm
Fables Vol. 2: Animal Farm | Bill Willingham
24 posts | 80 read | 10 to read
Collecting FABLES #6-10, the second story arc of the fan-favorite, critically acclaimed VERTIGO series. Travel to upstate New York, where the non-human Fable characters have found refuge on a farm, miles from mankind. But all is not well on the farm and a conspiracy to free them from the shackles of their perceived imprisonment may lead to a war that could wrest control of the Fables community away from Snow White. Starring Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Plus, a sketchbook section featuring art by Willingham, Buckingham and Jean."

Not as good as the first one by far. This one gets into the animals of fables that are stuck upstate who want to rise against the Adversary and the city folk. Goldilocks is the ringleader.

Badass versions of well known characters with plenty of twists and turns. Very good.

Zelma I absolutely loved this series. It loses some steam in the middle, but then there is a volume toward the end that ripped my heart out and stomped on it in the best way possible. Made all the mediocre storylines worth it. 5y
Juliethope I loved loved loved the series! 5y
sophierayton I'm excited to carry on. It's a good one. 5y

Animal Farm is "sort of like Old MacDonald meets Walt Disney meets Munchkinland."

But much more gruesome!

I had to take a break from #LitsyPartyofOne and #LetsGetGraphicWeeklongReadathon today to take my son to the library as promised, so I grabbed some more fuel for the week while there!

TricksyTails 👏😁📚 Awesome!! @GrilledCheeseSamurai strongly recommends Unwritten so I‘ve got that on my TBR for the week! 6y
GrilledCheeseSamurai @readinginthedark @TricksyTails Yuppers! Unwritten is one of my favs! This one here is actually outside of the main series. A stand alone book, if you will. No less excellent though! 😍👌 6y

CatLass007 @Hornsby78 @EclecticBookLover I‘ve read the first volume of Fables and loved it, now I have it in my own library. 6y
CatLass007 @Clwojick I enjoyed Chew, Vol 1, so I checked out everything the library had in the series. 6y
HatefulGrablin Chew gets so crazy, but it's great! 6y
Betty What books are on the bottom? 6y
CatLass007 Hi, @Betty ! Those are books I bought with a gift card at Mr. K‘s, and didn‘t want to include in my library haul. They‘re volumes of Y - THE LAST MAN. 6y
Betty @CatLass007 which volumes did you buy? I'm reading these now. 🤓 (confession: was going to mail 3 to you for part of #dystopianblues). You'll enjoy it! (edited) 6y
CatLass007 @Betty Yikes!! So sorry. I think I have them all now... I should‘ve known better than to buy books. 6y
Betty @CatLass007 Not a problem. I'll pass these volumes to my son and his stepdaughter. Not the first time I've bought something off someone's TBR for a swap and saw they got it in a book haul. I'm glad I asked what these books were (edited) 6y

It was really exciting and interesting. The book was hard to put down. It was much better than the first volume. The illustrations was still great. However, it really kept me hanging. I just want to read the next one as soon as possible!

This one had a lot more action than the first book that's for damn sure. This had at least two audible OMG moments, but what I like most is getting to know more about this world. It's so unique! And it shows just how mundane Once Upon a Time really is by comparison. This is definitely my preferred fairytale mishmash

It's rare that I get an audible reaction when reading, particularly if it's something I've read before, but it's been such a long time with this one. It got an audible oh my god out of me.

This series still feels like it's getting going. The dialogue is sometimes quite clunky and I always get the feeling that more could be done with the story. It's not bad and I'm still going to read on but after some amazing graphic novels read this year it feels kinda meh. #graphicnovel #librarybook

Much darker than vol. 1 and better for it in my opinion. I really enjoyed the literary references in this one, and appreciated the development of characters. Another enjoyable read.

2nd story line in this series where you meet the other half of the exiled fairy tale characters. The first story arc introduced the characters living in NY. This story follows the farm where all the talking animals and other characters who can't blend in with the mundy (mundane or human) world. Love that this story had shere khan and other jungle book characters since I just reread that book recently
