'Smart, sexy, and oh-so romantic' Mary Balogh 'Grace Burrowes is a romance treasure' Tessa Dare New York Times bestselling author Grace Burrowes introduces us to the unconventional Wentworth family in this charming Regency romance with a Cinderella twist. A funny thing happened on the way to the gallows . . . One minute, London banker Quinn Wentworth is facing execution. The next, he's declared the long-lost heir to a dukedom. Quinn has fought his way up from the vilest slums, and now he's ready to use every dirty trick he knows to find the enemy who schemed against him. There was just one tiny problem . . . Jane Winston, the widowed, pregnant daughter of a meddlesome prison preacher, crosses paths with Quinn in jail. Believing his days are numbered, Quinn offers Jane marriage as a way to guarantee her independence and provide for her child. Neither thinks they'll actually have a future together. They were wrong. He's a wealthy gutter rat out for vengeance. She's a minister's daughter who must turn a marriage of desperation into a proper ducal union. Are they doomed from the start or destined for a happily-ever-after? Praise for Grace Burrowes: 'Wonderfully funny, moving romance, not to be missed!' Eloisa James 'Sexy heroes, strong heroines, intelligent plots, enchanting love stories...Grace Burrowes's romances have them all' Mary Balogh 'Grace Burrowes writes from the heart - with warmth, humor, and a generous dash of sensuality, her stories are unputdownable! If you're not reading Grace Burrowes you're missing the very best in today's Regency Romance!' Elizabeth Hoyt

First in the Rogues to Riches series, this was a good book but just not as great as I normally expect from Burrowes. The story involves a wealthy London banker Quinn Wentworth who is framed and sentenced to death for a murder he didn‘t commit. While awaiting execution, he meets a preacher‘s daughter, Jane Winston, who is a pregnant widow forced to rely on her pious and unfeeling father for her and her child‘s well-being. He offers her marriage 🔻

robinb to provide for the child, but when he is reprieved upon discovering that he is a long-lost duke heir, they must move forward as husband and wife. While the story was well-written and flowed smoothly, for some reason I couldn‘t connect as well with Quinn and Jane as I would have liked. Their relationship was sweet, but I did not feel as invested as I normally do with this author‘s characters. But still, all-in-all a very good book. 4/5⭐️ 🔻 (edited) 4mo

This may be one of the most contemporary historical romances I‘ve ever read. Burrowes is playing with and subverting all of the tropes here, along with a healthy dose of inclusivity, and I am here for it.

Finally had time to relax and read. Friends have been talking about the pros of light romances, so I thought I‘d start with this one. It delivers - fun, romantic, with a mystery and of course, the happy ending. Added benefit is it‘s not Dostoyevsky - I can finish it in a day before something comes up and takes me away from reading (Yes, it does happen!)

Starting a fun new #romantsy on the CloudLibrary App. Quinn is about to hang for a murder he didn‘t commit when he meets Jane, the minister‘s daughter and marries her just before his execution. Hi jinks ensue when Quinn is pardoned and elevated to a Dukedom! 😂 I‘m enjoying this audiobook even though it has a male narrator. ( I‘m more used to a female voice)

Thanks to @CoffeeK8 for bringing this #romantsy to my attention. Quinn Wentworth is not the standard candidate for Duke, even among romance novels and i loved the characters here. I might have enjoyed it more if I‘d been able to binge read instead of snatching a few minutes here and there, but overall it was fun and not too steamy. I look forward to more in the series.

CoffeeK8 So glad you enjoyed it! 💕 5y

I love a #romantsy where the hero and heroine are forced/accidentally married and have to make it work, but this one really takes it to the next level. Jane is widowed, pregnant and destitute and agrees to marriage to Quinn a (framed) convicted murderer who will die the next day, when SURPRISE, his sentence gets overturned and he also becomes a Duke.

DGRachel That sounds fun! #stacked 5y

Such a lovely read & It kept me in suspense for quite a while! I I loved the romance building between Quinn & Jane. It was a slow process as they grew to know each other but it was entertaining. All of the supporting characters were memorable & a few I am quite invested in & hope they get their own story in this series. I didn‘t like that the ending did not wrap up all the loose ends.
