Killing It
Killing It: Bad Guys Can Wait. Bedtime Can't. | Asia Mackay
9 posts | 6 read | 2 to read
'I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!! It's so new and different and refreshing' MARIAN KEYES 'A riotously fun read . . . Asia Mackay puts the sass in assassin' L S HILTON 'An annoyingly brilliant and funny first novel' HUGH GRANT Every working mum has had to face it. The guilt-fuelled, anxiety-filled first day back in the office after maternity leave. But this working mum is one of a kind. Meet Alexis Tyler. An elite covert agent within Her Majesty's Secret Service. Her first project back is a high-stakes hit of global significance and the old boys network of government espionage is far from ready for the return of an operational mother. But woe betide anyone who ever tells Alexis Tyler 'you can't'. She will have it all. Or she'll die trying . . . And yes, she damn well will be home for bath time. For fans of Dawn O'Porter's THE COWS, WHY MUMMY DRINKS and Channel 4's CATASTROPHE comes THE HERO YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR. Praise for Killing It: 'Witty . . . fun . . . clever. BRILLIANT!' Sophie Ellis-Bextor 'Funny, observant and proper adrenaline inducing thrills, I now solely aspire to be even half the woman Lex Tyler is. A bad ass with a baby: every mother's dream' Georgia Tennant 'What new mother can't relate to murder? This is the funny and thrilling story of how one woman does what all women do all the time - manage every single thing - and throws in a bit of efficient killing. Brilliant, wish I'd done more of that . . .' Arabella Weir 'Bold and ballsy with style to burn, Killing It takes a sledgehammer to the spy genre and the result is pure brilliance' Chris Whitaker

And it's only September! Thanks @WhatThePuck for showing me ❤📚👶

I set a modest goal considering pregnancy and then motherhood. Having a baby with sleep trouble really makes for a lot of time trapped under Ellie with my kindle.

WhatThePuck So excited for you!!! 2mo
SamanthaMarie Oh man, sorry for the sleep troubles. For the first year of my son's life he would hardly ever sleep anywhere but on my chest or cradled in my arms. (Loved the cuddles, occasionally really wanted solo sleep haha!) But incredible on the books!!! ♡♡♡♡ 2mo
Whimsical.Curiosity @SamanthaMarie totally get it! Snuggles are amazing but a night of sleep is necessary here and there. But as I'm sure you know, trying to be grateful for every day too. 2mo

kezzlou85 I know that so well. My youngest didn't sleep through the night until she was 18 months old. Well done on the score though. 2mo

@Schnoebs

Schnoebs I‘m actually thinking of maybe finding a good mob nonfiction for this once. I‘ve really been in the mood for one since reading a Frank Sinatra memoir on his mob involvements 🤷‍♀️ 9mo
Birdsong28 @Schnoebs Sounds like a good idea. 😁📚📖 9mo

Good. Enjoyed the high pace of this book and how the characters were always making you change your mind about their motives. Left it on a cliffhanger so there is room for the story to go if the author decides to go further with it.

When I went into this book, I expected plain old good fun, but got much more – Killing It does dig deep at the end, even though it starts out lighthearted. The main theme is how women are scrutinized after they come back to work after maternity leave. Read the full review: http://bit.ly/2LrkfYc

This is a story of a mother/wife who is also a covert operative for the Secret Service. She comes back from maternity leave & put on a mission to get close to the wife of her target, a Russian oligarch. I enjoyed the book. It was an easy read & it didn‘t take much thinking but I didn‘t find myself rushing to pick it up. It was written well & it is a good 1st novel. This can become a series as it it left resolved but an option for more books.
