The Third Angel: A Novel | Alice Hoffman

Alice Hoffman is my favorite writer. Jodi Picoult Alice Hoffman is one of our most beloved writers. Here on Earth was an Oprah Book Club selection. Practical Magic and Aquamarine were both bestselling books and Hollywood movies. Her novels have received mention as notable books of the year by the New York Times, Entertainment Weekly, the Los Angeles Times, and People magazine, and her short fiction and nonfiction have appeared in the New York Times, The Boston Globe Magazine, Kenyon Review, Redbook, Architectural Digest, Gourmet, and Self. Now, in The Third Angel, Hoffman weaves a magical and stunningly original story that charts the lives of three women in love with the wrong men: Headstrong Madeleine Heller finds herself hopelessly attracted to her sisters fianc. Frieda Lewis, a doctors daughter and a runaway, becomes the muse of an ill-fated rock star. And beautiful Bryn Evans is set to marry an Englishman while secretly obsessed with her ex-husband. At the heart of the novel is Lucy Green, who blames herself for a tragic accident she witnessed at the age of twelve, and who spends four decades searching for the Third Angelthe angel on earth who will renew her faith. Brilliantly evoking Londons Kings Road, Knightsbridge, and Kensington while moving effortlessly back in time, The Third Angel is a work of startling beauty about the unique, alchemical nature of love. From the Hardcover edition.

DarcysMom @Shakespearience I am going to give the rest of the group a couple of hours to weigh in, but I am leaning toward The Gap of Time as well. 2w
arubabookwoman I too was leaning toward The Gap of Time. My preference was not for short stories (American Innovations) and I haven‘t gotten along with Alice Hoffman in a while. But it‘s your choice and I will look forward to reading whichever you choose😊. 2w
DarcysMom @arubabookwoman I like all of them, so I am happy to gi with what works vest for the group. 😁 2w
DarcysMom @mcipher Will The Gap of Time work for you? 2w
mcipher I‘ve never read it so it works for me! I‘m still struggling with my pick - it‘s good but I‘m not reading much. I may end up sending it half read to meet the date and then finishing it at the end 😬 2w

Mehso-so

Ok maybe it is the bad book hangover talking but here goes. I almost quit on this book for the first 90 pages or so I hated every character. They were all just horrible people with no redeeming qualities which is not something I like at all. The second was much better, the step through time and how it brought it back to first section was nice. Still over all it was a meh
