Emergency Poet
Emergency Poet: An Anti-Stress Poetry Anthology | Deborah Alma
4 posts | 3 read | 7 to read
A brilliant new anthology of poems that will help you to overcome stress, depression and other anxieties. Arranged by spiritual ailment, the sections include a range of verse, new and old, which may be of comfort to those in need of a pick-me-up for the soul. The collection has been carefully compiled by Deborah Alma, the world's first and only emergency poet, who travels to schools, libraries, festivals and other events in her 1970s ambulance to offer consultations and prescribe poems as cures for various maladies. This collection is designed to lift your mood and offers poetic help whenever it may be required.

@Magpiegem your post really resonated with me, as I feel exhausted some days from sadness over things happening in this world I can do little about. I love the idea of this book and thought it was perfect timing! National Poetry month is coming up so I am sharing it here too. @TheBookHippie it seems like one you would love also ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Magpiegem It‘s a lovely book, with poetry from a wide variety of sources, plus suggestions for other poets and anthologies to explore so it would be great for national poetry month. And it is good for our bruised souls at the moment I think. Thank you for sharing it ❤️❤️ (edited) 2y

Pickpick

13/22 I am heavy with grief for what is happening in our world. In Ukraine, in Myanmar, in Afghanistan, in Yemen, in Sudan, in Ethiopia, in Iraq, in Somalia, in Uganda, in Syria to name a few (trust me the others keep me awake at night too). As I sit in my safe warm home with my healthy, nourished family I feel beyond helpless for those who are suffering. I give money, though I know it doesn‘t make a dent. So I reached for this book for my sanity.

EvieBee I find Psalm 46:9 a true comfort at this day in time. 2y
Magpiegem @EvieBee thank you for suggesting that Psalm we need all the comfort we can get right now I think. ❤️ 2y

I‘ve been anxious about the course my life is taking recently, I‘ve been offered an opportunity that I know will change everything. It means I will have to draw myself up and out of my comfort zone, further than I have ever gone before. But this book, and this poem, make sense. I don‘t need to know the ending, I just need to enjoy the journey 🌄👣💙
