Sometimes love means having to broaden your literary horizons Frankie Rose is desperate for love. Or a relationship. Or just a date with a semi-normal person will do. Its not that she hasnt tried. Shes the queen of online dating. But enough is enough. Inspired by her job at The Little Brunswick Street Bookshop, Frankie decides to take fate into her own hands and embarks on the ultimate love experiment. Her plan? Plant her favourite books on trains inscribed with her contact details in a bid to lure the sophisticated, charming and well-read man of her dreams. Enter Sunny, and one spontaneous kiss later, Frankie begins to fall for him. But theres just one problem Frankie is strictly a classics kind of gal, and Sunny is really into Young Adult. Like really. A clever, funny and wryly observed story about books and discovering who you really are.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it, I just do. Some will be old, some will be new. Don‘t judge me - I have a lot of books. Join in if you want!

I liked this sweet little romance but the main character, who works in a bookshop, was snobby about books almost all the way through. And although, she then changed her mind (after reading some YA books - a genre I love, so maybe that‘s why I took it personally), it was a bit like the damage was already done. There was lots of book talk though, which I enjoyed and a sweet happy ending too. I have another by this duo which I‘ll read soon

The setting of this book is my favourite city in the world, Melbourne. So I might be a bit biased. However, the story line is endearing; finding your love through books.

My @24in48 stack + my current read The Terror by Dan Simmons which is on kindle. Working half days this weekend but hoping to get as close to 24 hours as possible! Two new books + a good old Harry Potter reread.

I liked the concept of this book and I like how it's set in Melbourne, one of my favorite cities. What I didn't like was the best friend's plot. I also find it a little unlikely that she would run into as many of her dates as she did considering how big Melbourne is now!

Not my thing. Too much dialogue to start with. It was on the new book shelf at the library and I thought it looked interesting. However not to be for me. @MrsMalaprop

The blurb suggested this would be my kind of book. The blurb LIED!! I couldn‘t bring myself to finish, returned it to the library half finished. I thought it was horrendous. Poorly written, a cast of the most ridiculous two-dimensional characters, the most woeful dialogue I‘ve possible ever read and a predictable plot. I love #ozficition but this just goes to show there are some shockers out there. Ignore the 5 star reviews on GR and stay away.

I started this yesterday and so far I‘m not impressed. I hope it improves otherwise it might be my second pan in two weeks. Anyone else read it? Should I persist?

I might not have read a lot of books last month but this one by Australian authors had certainly took me by surprise. Normally not a big fan of contemporary especially with Romance, but the #BookNinja is such a fun & sweet story that took place in Melbpurne, Australia, so full of (Classics& YA) book references that it would taicle all the booknerds in us. Finished it in one sitting! A 4⭐️ / 5

I loved this book! It appealed to all of my romantic and magical imaginings. It made me want to move to Melbourne and hopefully find a book in a tram, eat Lune croissants and be swept off my feet by a man who digs YA novels 😀

Quite like this Aussie #romcom with a huge bookish twist.

The main character was quite likeable, her best friend though... Let's say, this pregnant bestie is a bit OTT, as is the MC's mother.

A fun read!

I finished this one on last night‘s flight. Lots of literature/YA references. A fun read.
I finished it though and I have one more day before I get home. No print books left in my suitcase, so it‘s time to check out the stash of ebooks on my iPad.

Cute, funny, and quirky - I really enjoyed this refreshingly original romance. While some parts were a little too predictable for me, it still felt so different than other love stories. I loved the characters, their dialogue, and all of the literary goodness!

Some #MeTime before an appointment.

I'm enjoying this Aussie book. There is a knitting man in the cast of secondary characters.

Cathythoughts A knitting man ! We had a friend ( man ) who used to knit upstairs on the bus ... an unusual lovely guy ❤️ 6y

Apparently I‘m going through a romance phase at the moment! This one seems to be going straight to my bookworm heart. I‘m loving all of the literary references and characters - definitely having a hard time putting it down!

Moby Dick 😂😂😂

Wan.der.love I feel like bookmarks vs the dog-ear could be a good Litsy debate 😂 6y
CarolynM OMG the gas crisis of 1998! That was a real thing in Melbourne. We had no gas, and therefore most of us had no hot water, for weeks! 6y
julesG @CarolynM Ugh! So bad? 6y

CarolynM Yes! From memory it was bout this time of year - nowhere near warm enough for cold showers. It's no fun washing in an inch of bath water warmed up by a kettle full of boiling water! 6y
julesG @CarolynM Again, Ugh! I once had a flat/room where I had to either do exactly what you did, heat the water in the kettle, or I had to use the communal bathroom, which was always dirty since I was the only woman on that floor and the three guys never cleaned up properly. 6y
CarolynM Oh no! Communal bathrooms are the worst!😩 6y

Started to read the first chapter of the tagged book. Just wanted to get an idea what the book is about before committing to it a.k.a. buying it. 🙈

Sleep is for non-readers. 😛

Perfect booknerd book. It's drawn me in.

Bonus: It's set in Melbourne. Yes, Australia. I should read more AUS romance books.

thegirlwiththelibrarybag I liked it, but didn‘t love it (even if it is set in my home town) 6y
julesG @thegirlwiththelibrarybag It'll certainly not become my favourite book. But compared to some of the ARCs, fantasy books and badly edited 'Toy Makers' I've read recently, it makes for some nice change. So far no typos, grammar or 'wrong word' errors. And the story is nice - I could see myself getting to know people by leaving my favourite books on the train. 😉 6y
thegirlwiththelibrarybag @julesG, can‘t say more without spoilers 🤐 6y
julesG @thegirlwiththelibrarybag I'll tag you once I'm finished, then we can discuss it if you like. 6y

Didn‘t quite live up to the promise of its blurb but managed to make me giggle and it‘s set in Melbourne!

"If Frankie's life were a book, she would title it Disappointment, named aptly after the disaster that was her career, her family and, of course, her love life."

I just started reading The Book Ninja yesterday and I am enjoying it ?❤ I borrowed the little star from my nephew ⭐ Making them is the current cool thing to do at school ?

This book made me roll my eyes into the back of my head so hard that they stayed there and then I couldn‘t read any more of the book. A blessing in disguise. I don‘t think I have ever hated a book this much!

I spent my Sunday morning indulging in a breakfast that made me think of home (hello, Vegemite!), while reading this delightful new novel also set in Melbourne! It sure did make this expat homesick!! I‘ve popped a full review up on my blog ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
