I MAY have been a little overzealous with the foam on my #londonfog this morning. I‘m trying to decide what to bake today. It‘s snowing outside and I‘m feeling the need for a little #hyyge.

Book designer & cookbook author Barbara Scott-Goodman got together with artist & designer Maira Kalman & the results are as stylish as you would have guessed. They obviously love cake. I love cake. I thought it would be a match made in heaven, but I somehow want more. Maybe the recipes are too classic (Lemon Pound Cake, Carrot Cake, Cheesecake, Pavlova etc) to really stand out against the glorious art. It would make a sweet gift.

I adore Maira Kalman‘s art.

And someone mentioned Nietzsche‘s quote. He said a day without dancing is a wasted day. You don‘t think of philosophers dancing, especially Nietzsche. But apparently they do.

It is not a party without cake.
It is not a holiday without cake.
It is not an auspicious occasion without cake.
Things are much nicer with cake.
Bring on the cake.
We really want to LIVE.

Love all the illustrations in this book but this one is particularly cute. I haven‘t tried any of the cake recipes yet though so the 🤘is for the illustrations and the bits that Kalman writes.
