Pickles to Pittsburgh
Pickles to Pittsburgh: A Sequel to Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (with audio recording) | Judi Barrett
4 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
In this charming sequel to the classic Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Kate and Henry eagerly await Grandpa's return from a vacation that his postcard says has been one of the best and most unusual ever. Thinking about that postcard Kate drifts off to sleep that night and... "With Henry as my co-pilot..." she visits the strange land of Chewandswallow -- a land characterized by massive amounts of food, immense carrots, leafy jungles of lettuce, and tuna fish sandwiches so gigantic they have to be moved by helicopter. What the people of Chewandswallow are doing with all that food is most intriguing of all. Fans of Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs will applaud this return trip with its underlying message of generosity and a world community.

1) technically just south of Pittsburgh, but close enough to call it home.

2) I‘ve lived all over the US, and I‘d honestly rather be here.

3) I just started Madame Fourcade's Secret War today. It takes place in France/Europe.

4) We love pierogies, stoop waffles, Primantis, haluski... 😍

5) ❤️

Been away from Litsy again! More college visits for younger son, which included a trip to Pittsburgh. Took this photo and was reminded of how much my kids enjoyed the tagged book and its prequel Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, way back when 😊

ValerieAndBooks @britt_brooke @Suet624 Pitt included a bus tour of parts of the city, and the tour guide said this was the “second most beautiful view in America “ (the first being the Grand Canyon) 😃 6y
ValerieAndBooks @Reggie that‘d be nice 💖! I don‘t think I‘ll be a grandma for many years yet, though! 6y

I used to always do a weather unit in the spring with my pre schoolers and this book along with Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, was such a big hit.
