pickI am about a quarter through this book. It has made me enjoy reading more. I love the plot of the book even though it is pretty brutal, and the amount of description it has is incredible. Can't wait to finish it!

Three years after a school shooting Lee grapples with the truth of what happened the day she lost her best friend. A misunderstanding makes her BFF, Sarah, a martyr but Lee was there with her and knows the story being spun is for the wrong girl. It‘s a story about voice and truth and who has it and who is listened to.
I am on page 46 it is taking a lot of time to get to the point in this story. I‘m not really liking it it is Very sad but I think I‘ll keep reading so I can see what happens next. 🙂
pickThis was a different perspective on the high-school-shooting books. Instead of the story about the shooter, it‘s about how the survivors moved on after. The shooter is never even named. It‘s a cool idea to honor the victims, to give them the attention instead of the murderer.

pickI loved the different perspectives in this book. Each survivor of a school shooting is trying to process the trauma and have his/her voice heard. There is also an interesting aspect of trying to dispel some false rumors that sprang up after the shooting. There was also good insight into PTSD and trauma recovery. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

pickSarah is Lee‘s best friend, but when the school shooting happened she died. There have been many stories that have been told about the shooting, but they are all fragments of the real story. In this book Lee is telling the real story about what actually happened in the shooting. So far this book is really good (even though I‘m only on pg 17)
pickThat‘s not what happened is a go book if you like books what tell you different sides of the same story and and how it went for the different carters. A line from the is “I wake up every morning with death on my mind” I would give this book a 10/10
pickA bit of a slow start, but I ended up liking this one more than I thought I would. Lee survived a school shooting her freshman year of high school. Now a senior, she‘s trying to gather stories from the other survivors to set the record straight on what really happened. Lots of interesting commentary on the value of the truth, how stories are used to advance agendas, and what can happen when people try to control their own narratives.
First full day of summer break. Lounged around and did a little “Chapter 1 day fun day”- reading the first chapter of books from my TBR shelf. A few of the non-fiction ones I‘ve read a bit of before and was dipping back in.
Yes, both coffees were for me. Two different flavors at once. Such a wild kick off to summer.
pickI finished this last week but forgot to upload my review. I absolutely loved this one. It was so emotive and well written. All of the characters were well thought out and you could really relate to them. Read this book it's amazing!!! 🤓

This looked like an intriguing book but it was only so-so. I didn‘t connect with any of the main characters & it all felt a bit superficial. 3⭐️

pickI cannot speak highly enough about this book. I had never read this author before, and it was a great introduction to her. I love that she made this book completely and totally about the victims of the massacre, not the actual act. Very moving
pickThis was a tough book about a school shooting and the stories that get twisted in the aftermath. It dealt with more issues than just bullying and violence, but also sexuality and faith and friendship. Definitely worthwhile because it gave so many perspectives and even though the subject matter was difficult, it was hard to put down. #booked2018 #setatschool
Two Arcs in today‘s mail. Title of “That‘s Not What Happened” sounds like another way of saying Lie, Lying, Liar which is so common in recent book titles. 📚📬📪

School shooting stories are not easy to read, but there are a lot of them out there and many that are really good. The narrator in this book is fantastic, even though it‘s a tough read. (And interesting tidbit- Keplinger wrote The Duff which was made into a movie popular among my teen daughters and their friends).
Saw not one, but two, ads for this before 8 am today and remembered I needed to read it. Good morning, breakfast read.
