My May book for #12Booksof2022 would be A Handful of Heaven.

This is my favourite Kristin Hannah book so far (only read about 5) but shocked to see it is out of print. I loved the story but not sure the cover on the right fitted it at all 😂 Sure that didn‘t help it‘s case. A book that just kept me wanting me to read on and on and on.

It is available on archive.org if anyone is interested and can‘t get a copy.

Andrew65 May was a very strong reading month so also notable mentions for :

The Rising Tide by Ann Cleeves : Book 10 Vera Stanhope Series
The Lost Children by Michael Wood : Book 9 Matilda Darke Series
The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn

Andrew65 @dabbe It is a bit hot and steamy isn‘t it, yet the book wasn‘t. 1y
dabbe @Andrew65 They need a new front cover rep because that picture is WAY misleading! 😆 1y

Day 10 #AdventRecommends May Book 2

This has to be one of my favourite Kristin Hannah books, although cover nothing to write home about. Devon O‘Shea heads to the Yukon in search of gold, only to find there has been a misunderstanding on both sides, and she is confronted by Stone Man McKenna who believes the Yukon is no place for a woman. But they are stuck with each other for the winter. Loved their confrontational relationship.

JacqMac Oh, this looks good. I love her. I‘m gonna add it to my list. 1y
Andrew65 @JacqMac One that kept me wanting to read on and find out what happened. 1y

This may have been the first book Kristin Hannah had published, but is definitely no poorer for that. Loved this book from beginning to end and if you haven‘t read it I strongly recommend it. A great story set in the Yukon at the time of the gold rush and very powerful lead characters. @Eadieb @Tove_Reads

Yukon Territory was a gold miner's heaven, and Devon O'Shea had come to claim her share. But instead of a thriving store in a boom town, Devon discovered she was part owner of a filthy, disorganized tent with a bunch of gold diggers and a mountainous slap of animosity for a partner: Stone Man McKenna.

EadieB Gathering mop, pail and sheer determination, Devon vowed to make this post the best in the Yukon Territory. Stone Man didn't scare her. But his kiss -- a gruff attempt to convince her that the Yukon was no place for a lady -- left her feeling, for the first time in her life, feminine and alive . . . 2y
EadieB This was an interesting story. It was more of a romance than a mystery. It had a good feeling about it and changed the way I saw the Yukon Territory. It was a good Kristin Hannah story and left me a bit surprised at the ending. It was one of the first books that Kristin Hannah wrote and I would have to say that I loved it a lot. 2y

Started reading the tagged book as a buddy read with @EadieB and @Andrew65 So happy to read with them again. I have just chatted with my friend from Texas who is the vice principal of the school where a student murdered another one this week, so I need all the distraction I can get!

Andrew65 Sorry to hear that, hope the reading helps. 2y
