Playing With Fire
Playing With Fire | Peter Robinson
7 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
When the bodies of two squatters are found in the burning remains of a couple of derelict barges, Inspector Alan Banks has to wonder whether one of their occupations caused their deaths. One victim was a local artist, with plenty of turpentine and oil paint at hand; the other was a young woman, a junkie, who evidently shot up her final fix just before the fire started. But if the fire was an accident, why did her boyfriend bolt from the scene when the police arrived? And why did the neighbour who discovered the fire not call it in right away? As they start their investigation, Banks and his colleague (and former lover), DI Annie Cabbot, find more than enough motives for murder and more than one person with a reason to kill. Worse, one of the two detectives themselves discovers firsthand the seductive thrill and terrible danger of playing with fire. In his fourteenth Inspector Banks mystery, Peter Robinson once more displays his extraordinary skill in creating memorable characters, a haunting narrative, and a subtly unveiled plot, a talent that has made him one of the best writers of crime fiction in the world today. From the Hardcover edition.

Oh no... These seven plus two arcs on my reading list for next week. Had to exclude four, because 24 hours a day is not enough time. Well, who said life as an avid reader would be an easy one? No one. That‘s who. Another murderous week ahead it seems 🤔

The mystery challenge was definately hardest of all. I am stuck between the two Peters, Robinson and James and it is a tie! Besides they are both friends so I can't put one over the other.

Peter James was inspired to write by the book Brighton Rock and Peter Robinson's would definately include The Water's Edge.

I'm a bit behind so this is my contribution for yesterday's hashtag #fire. This is book 14 from one of my favourite Detective series, Inspector Banks. If you haven't tried it I do recommend it. #NoteworthyNovember

Surly faced Yorkshire Detectives... Does nothing for North England PR. Try smiling guys, life isn't all that bad!

They forgot about the other 11 months as well. Blackpool is cold, bleak and lonely all year round mate!
