This is my new hod. I scored this at the yearly tractor show flea market.

Suet624 Can you explain what this is? 9mo
quirkyreader @Suet624 This is a hod. It‘s used to transport vegetables after they are picked. The veggies can also be washed in the hod before being taken inside. Since this is a vintage piece I won‘t be washing things in it. And it does have some heft to it. 9mo
Suet624 It‘s gorgeous! 9mo

Not really book related, but I spent yesterday making a willow basket, and I just wanted to show it off! 😊 Really interesting to learn about this ancient craft, which has a really strong history in Ireland. It's great that people are still doing this, and stopping the skills from dying out. Really recommend trying it - was hard work, but so satisfying.

Hooked_on_books It‘s beautiful! I‘m very impressed. 5y

julesG 👏You are having a very crafty year. 👏 My late grandmother's best friend's late husband (okay, so some relation of my grandmother's) taught me how to make wicker baskets. He was blind and taught me how to do it just trusting his, and my hands. Also, he made the most beautiful patterns using differently shaded willow twigs and I have no idea how he knew the different colours from each other. 5y
Soubhiville I took a basket making class once. It was fun and also a lot of work. Yours came out really nicely! 5y
Chrissyreadit Beautiful! 5y
Oryx @julesG Yeah I've really gotten back into things this year, after not doing much for a few years. Finding it really helps switch off from work stress. i can't imagine making something like that without sight. That's incredible. The different types must feel slightly different to the touch. Amazing. 5y
