Isle of Blood and Stone is a really pleasant twist on the secret royalty story. The character and world building is excellent and the writing is sophisticated without excluding the younger reader. There is a romance but it is not central or explicit in anyway. 4/5 Stars

4.5 ⭐. This one really surprised me. There were moments where I though "oh here comes the typical #YA moment" only for it to be something unexpected. It's also slower paced but full of so much character development and worldbuilding that I didn't mind. If I had to complain, I couldn't get behind the main couple (not a fan of the girl) and #cries, why you hurt my heart?! Reads like a standalone

Currently reading this book! I'm like 100 pages in and enjoying it 😊 especially Elias who is a cartographer and explorer 💖💖 Getting all the names and relations down is a bit tough but the plot is interesting! #fantasy #youngadult

This book's descriptions of cartography made me interested in trying to draw maps on my own, so I ordered these during our cold snap and now they're here!

I feel like that Arthur meme tonight where he's reading all the books in a circle.

Sneaking in a chapter at a time, trying to make The Burning Maze last as long as I can, trying to make some headway on The Son of Neptune which I started too long ago to remember, and started Isle of Blood and Stone tonight...

This is why I'm usually a monogamous reader. Too much pressure! 😆

Royalty, family secrets, maps and riddles, distant lands, kidnapping and murder, mystery, and political intrigue make up the bones of this YA fantasy and if the packaging is familiar it is nevertheless fairly well executed in this fun, quick read. I liked the main characters—though I would have liked a little more depth—and the emphasis on mapping and exploration was also fun. (Great cover too!) Borrow it from the library or grab while on sale.

Going with a new-ish YA book for the next read. Murdered princes, mysterious maps, secrets and adventures. Need something to tide me over until a weekend of travel which will necessitate the selection of a book or two specifically for the trip. Anyone else do that, pick books just for a trip? I never take a book I‘ve already started. I imagine/hope I‘m not the only one who does that! 😊

Tamra Yes, trips require strategic planning! 🤔😄 6y

I‘ve been a bit quiet (for me) here lately, as I‘ve been reading like crazy, feeling a bit stressed with my stepson over for spring break (extra child in house). Anyway, #IsleofBloodandStone is a YA fantasy WITHOUT a load of blood and gore, set by the sea, and involves a mystery, reading maps, sea serpents, and you MUST read my review 🐙👉🏼 http://kamoorephoto.booklikes.com/post/1655694/blog-tour-review-isle-of-blood-an...

Ulises asked, “How can I look at these maps, see this riddle, and do nothing?”

Elias reached across the table and flicked aside two shells with a fingertip. The map curled into itself. “It‘s bound to be a goose chase. You know that?”

“Or a treasure hunt,” Ulises countered, “and you‘ve always been good at those.”

A sweeping fantasy full of intrigue, schemes, and fearless explorers searching for the truth.
