Two for Sorrow
Two for Sorrow: A New Mystery Featuring Josephine Tey | Nicola Upson
5 posts | 5 read | 9 to read
A new and assured talent.Nicola Upson is to be congratulated. P.D. James Author Nicola Upson brings legendary mystery writer Josephine Tey back for a third investigation in Two for Sorrow, the spellbinding follow-up to An Expert in Murder and Angel with Two Faces. Fans of P.D. James, Agatha Christie, and Jacqueline Winspear will relish this ingenious literary creation, as one of the most beloved mystery writers of the twentieth century, while doing research for a new novel based on a horrific case of multiple child murder in 1903 London, is drawn into a chillingly related hunt for a sadistic, present-day killer.

Andrew65 @robinb Yes this is book 3 of the Josephine Tey Historical Mystery Series. Strange to have a series which has a real author / playwright as the main character. They are very good and very enjoyable. 4y

Pickpick

Finally finished the last chapters of this, before I start The Chalk Man I thought I should finish at least 1 of the 44 books I‘ve started & then left in a pile next to my reading chair📚This is the third in her Josephine Tey series which is a fictional character based on the life of a real author in the 30s. When the murder of a seamstress is linked to the women she‘s been researching for a new book, Josephine is caught up in intrigue once again.

JazzFeathers I've read the seventh book in the series. Lived it. I'll definitely read more 6y

Finally getting back to this one, the 3rd in a dramatised series of crime/mystery novels about the novelist Josephine Tey. I read the first book expecting a “cozy Crime” vibe but was pleasantly surprised to find a cross between Agatha Christie & Ann Cleeves. Josephine is writing a book based on the notorious “baby farmers” who were hanged for their crimes in 1903. But then a seamstress is found murdered & she finds that old sins cast long shadows.

TheLibrarian Cute book sleeve! 6y
underthebelljar 😂 That book sleeve is adorable! Would we call that a unicorgi? Or a corgicorn? 😆 6y
Lizpixie @TheLibrarian @BookishJess thanks! It‘s a corgi-corn sleeve from @bookgogo Etsy shop http://etsy.me/2o9Z1SE Totes-a-GoGo. She‘s Aussie & is the mother of a LitMail PBC member. Her sleeves are really well made, I have four by her & no complaints. And if you find a fabric you love, she does custom orders as well.👌 (edited) 6y
JazzFeathers I read the seventh book in the series (stumpled upon it on NetGalley) and absolutrly LOVED it. I really need to check out the rest of the series 6y

Today's #BookMail not only had three books but also one bookish candle & one fandom candle. They smell amazing! The Belle candle is supposed to be books & red roses 🌹 but the scent is like burying you nose in a bunch of fresh cut Mr Lincoln roses, no books but I'm not complaining, Stars Hollow smells like a pumpkin spice latte with a dash of apple cider. I could walk around with my nose buried in it all day!

Lizpixie Oh & BTW, I've been tagged by five people so far for the Colour tag, y'all are gonna have to wait till I figure out which is first!✌️ 7y
