4 posts | 2 read
Some memories can be forgotten...others wont ever go away. From internationally adored author Marcia Willett comes the magnificent new novel, Indian Summer. For renowned actor Sir Mungo, his quiet home village in Devon provides the perfect retreat. Close by are his brother and his wife, and the rural location makes his home the ideal getaway for his old friends in London. Among those is Kit, who comes to stay for the summer, bringing with her a letter from her first and only love, Jake, and a heart in turmoil. Years have passed since they last saw each other, and now he has written to Kit asking to meet again. As the summer unfolds, secrets are uncovered that will shatter the sleepy community, and even tear a family apart. But those involved soon realize that the only way to move forward might be to confront the past...

I'm enjoying a beautiful Indian summer late afternoon on my almost finished back deck and feeling very grateful! Catching up on a few books that I am reading for review, keeping an eye on the bonfire from all the old deck wood, and enjoying a tiny nip of Pinot Grigio after getting in almost triple my normal steps 😉 What's your Sunday afternoon like? Enjoy it my litten friends 😁

Reecaspieces I am enjoying the same exact things..wine included!! 5y

An Indian summer is a period of unseasonably warm, dry weather that sometimes occurs in autumn in Northern America during late September to November. In an article on the US National Weather Service's web site, weather historian William R. Deedler writes that Indian Summer can be defined as "any spell of warm, quiet, hazy weather that may occur in October or November." It is usually described as occurring after a killing frost.

Crazeedi We really haven't had it here yet. Just now getting frosts, so I'm hoping some more warm weather arrives!😉 5y
TheSpineView No frost here yet, but the warm dry weather has been around for a bit now. 5y

Not totally convinced this is for me, but I like the cover and am willing to give it a shot. The sale sheet says themes of family, friendship, & love. "The old Herm stands at the crossroads, looking west, guarding the secrets of a thousand years." #FirstLine @StMartinsPress
