Our Dark Duet
Our Dark Duet | V. E. Schwab
The sequel - and conclusion - to Victoria Schwab's instant #1 New York Times bestseller, This Savage Song. Kate Harker is a girl who isn't afraid of the dark. She's a girl who hunts monsters. And she's good at it. August Flynn is a monster who can never be human. No matter how much he once yearned for it. He has a part to play. And he will play it, no matter the cost. Nearly six months after Kate and August were first thrown together, the war between the monsters and the humans is a terrifying reality. In Verity, August has become the leader he never wished to be, and in Prosperity, Kate has become the ruthless hunter she knew she could be. When a new monster emerges from the shadows - one who feeds on chaos and brings out its victim's inner demons - it lures Kate home, where she finds more than she bargained for. She'll face a monster she thought she killed, a boy she thought she knew, and a demon all her own.

1/5⭐ The CONSTANT EMOTIONAL INTROSPECTION drove me up the wall and completely stalled any plot progression. I skipped the middle 80% of the audiobook and was able to pick up the last hour or so without feeling like I missed anything important at all. The "resurrection" of a main antagonist from the first book made the story feel stale and repetitive. I appreciated the dark elements but they weren't enough to keep me reading.

My heart is breaking into pieces after finishing this duology. Can't say I'm surprised this book is a thriller with monsters and people have to die. Victoria Schwab does a great job at keeping this 2nd book entertaining and on my edge of my seat. I loved it

When you're at the end of a very intense audiobook, so you sit in your car to finish it and end up ugly crying while your neighbor gives you dirty looks from her window. 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

CrowCAH Totally have done that; ugly cried in the car, it‘s usually during rush hour traffic! 8mo

I read this one during #24in48 January 2019

I thought it was better than the first one, perfect characters, specially the villains.

I love Victoria, she can do no wrong ❤️

THIS BOOK SERIES BROKE ME I have never in my life cried so much for a book. I‘m the first book, you build bonds with all these Characters, and then Victoria Schwab just kills them all. It‘s so sad to see people that you believe are your friends turn against you and the people who you hate become your favorite characters and it breaks my heart. AUGUST NEEDS A HUG

[#BookReview] Our Dark Duet by Victoria Schwab! This is the sequel to This Savage Song and I cannot recommend this duology (and all of Schwab‘s books) enough! I was completely blown away and a sobbing mess by the end. The writing, characters, and plot are so perfectly executed and I cannot wait to re-read them over and over again. Have you read it? 🎻

I listened to this duology conclusion on audiobook this weekend and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Schwab has created a unique "monster" in this series that is unlike anything I've read. The interaction between the two main characters, August and Kate, was well handled and believable.

I've been a fan of V.E. Schwab for a few years now, and if you enjoy sci-fi/fantasy then give this book a chance.

I am not convinced that a lot of the beginning of this book was necessary. I know it was done to introduce an element, but otherwise it felt remote from the main story. I like that it was more about trust and friendship than romance, and that the ending was fitting to the situation.

Like its predecessor, this book continues to explore the idea that people are not all one thing. This one was a bit darker, and a little slower at first, but still fascinating. It does pick up when the characters reunite, and while the ending is satisfying, it doesn't tie all the bows. It's real and serves to underline the theme that life is messy and hard, but worth fighting for.

Just realised I've never posted review for this duology! Read this early last month and loved them. A very unique YA about demons and monsters and raised question about..What it really means being a monster? Who are the real monsters? Human or demons.

Do you ever get a little mad when you read a book or series that has been sitting on your shelf for a while and fall in love???!! I should have read this duology sooner! It has become a favorite alongside The Six of Crows duology.. Have you read this? Did you like it??

Every review I try to write gives away something about how the series ends. So I'll just say I liked it. It continues the theme of what exactly makes someone a monster?

An ok sequel. Nothing extraordinary sadly. Although the ending was good. It could have gone one of two ways, the other would have been disappointing. There is a ‘non-binary‘ character which was nice to see. Although they‘re not strictly human sooo...

Well...I have to say I was disappointed in this second book. As much as I loved the first book in the Monsters of Verity duology I just really wasn't feeling this one. I couldn't get into it. I got tired of Kate always trying to be a bad ass. So maybe I'll try again later but for now...I need something else .

mutlee I didn‘t like this one as much as the first either. Glad it wasn‘t just me! 14mo

Glad I finished this before returning it to the library. Not my favorite book, but I‘m happy that I read it if only to read the final two pages. Also, the margins and spacing were astronomical compared to everything else I‘ve been reading lately, and that was a welcome break 😂 thegreyhoundstationblog.wordpress.com

mutlee I enjoyed the second half more than the first half. But it‘s my least favorite Schwab book so far. She set the bar pretty high! 1y

Today was my annual Go-Off-the-Grid Day before school starts. My favorite winery to spend this apparently is closed on Wednesdays, so I tried a new place. Well worth the adventure. Plus a new friend joined me at the table for a while!

Mitch That‘s a great ritual. When the weather turns we have a “duvet weekend” where we stay in PJ‘s , don‘t go out, don‘t answer the door or phone from a Friday eve until Monday am! We stick up on books, magazine and treats and hide ! We love it! 1y
jmtrivera @Mitch That sounds like so much fun and so relaxing! We do something similar during Thanksgiving weekend. Instead of doing Black Friday, we celebrate Blanket Fort Friday. I should get my family to try it outside of holiday season though! 😊 1y

I loved this series but I really hated the ending. I get why the author chose that ending and I get why certain things happened but I really didn‘t want that ending. I guess that‘s why it has such an impact. It‘s like real life. Messy, uncomfortable, uncontrolled, and unfair. That‘s the point. Life is a bitch and then we die. It‘s how we choose to live it that makes us who we are and what we are. Sometimes monsters lurk in the most innocuous ppl

I've just finished this book and i am amazed and destroyed in equal parts. I can't believe i finished it without crying, because i cry for almost everything 😂

This book is... Idk, incredible. So, so good. The characters have strong personalities and they mean a lot for the reader. They don't go unnoticed and you care for them, for their fate. I wish there were more books 🙊💗💗
