Queens of the Conquest | Alison Weir
14 posts | 5 read | 1 reading | 19 to read
Five of England's medieval queens come to life in the first volume of an epic new series from bestselling author and historian Alison Weir. From Matilda of Flanders, wife of William the Conqueror, to the Empress Matilda, mother to King Henry II, founder of the Plantagenet dynasty, Weir delivers a dramatic overview of the Norman period from a fresh new perspective.

Oh how I wish I had another lifetime to read all of the books Ms Weir studied before writing this fabulous history of the Medieval queens! The times are fascinating to me. QUEENS OF THE CONQUEST is a satisfying read and if you‘re interested in this era, do pick up a copy!

Another great sale! To buy or not to buy... this is the first book in a series, so this may be one where I actually want the books themselves. Great reviews here and on Amazon.

GingerAntics Oh, this is on my TBR, too. I have another book by her in my “read soon-ish” collection. (edited) 5mo

It is absolutely gorgeous today in the PNW, so I decided to get some reading time in. I just couldn‘t pick one to bring out on the deck.....so I brought some options. #amreading #decktime #shipoftheseus #queensoftheconquest #rumi #theplanetfactory

Every once in a while I feel the need to indulge my passion for medieval queens and Alison Weir - and this one delivers. We know very little of this era (roughly 1050 to 1175), which makes this both fascinating and frustrating. I enjoyed most the sections on medieval life - what they ate, wore, the furnishings, etc. It is hard to keep the family trees straight - especially when all four queens covered are named Matilda. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

Lol. This rings a bit true to current events. The story actually refers to William the Conqueror.

Starting my 2018 Reading Challenge. I set my challenge on goodreads to 40 which seems a little low but I didn't read much last year. I'm hoping to beat this challenge this year. (Just need to stop reading archive of own instead! 😊) #readingchallenge #readingchallenge2018 #whatireadin2018

Just learned something new about William the Conqueror. Maybe they should bring this back. I bet the crime rate would go down. This is a galley from NetGalley, so not an official quote. 💖📚🇬🇧🇫🇷👑

• Good morning! I am conquering Mathilda of Scotland today and I can already tell this series is going to be good. I finished Sleep No More in one sitting last night and my review is live on my blog (link in bio), for those interested. No other updates thus far. Tell me, what are you reading? ✨#alisonweir #history #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile #met_createchange

• Officially started and I am enjoying it so much! It feels like forever since I read a history book. It's interesting and has made me question myself about my uni options and worry if I'm going in the right direction for my end goal. This beautiful book is the first of a four book series about England's medieval queens and is released September 28th by @jonathancape#history #alisonweir #booklover #bookstagram #bookblogger #bibliophile

The first work of history I remember being captivated by is Alison Weir‘s The Six Wives of Henry VIII, which I stumbled upon in my mother‘s bookstore when I was twelve or thirteen. So I‘m so excited to have a digital galley of her forthcoming Queens of the Conquest!

Ms.Story I think this is the same Matilda in my current read. I might have to follow up with this one once it's released! 2y
