This RF book by Mary Logue follows a young child who doesn‘t want to go to sleep. Her parents help her fall asleep by explaining how all of the other animals in the world fall asleep in their own ways. The beautiful illustrations by Pamela Zagarenski earned this book the 2013 Caldecott award. This book would be good for RT, RA, and DR. #UCFLAE3414F19

JennaMichelleCohn This book would be great with EL 4, because it would be beneficial for the students to activate prior knowledge on animals regarding whether or not they are nocturnal, or they hibernate, and so on. UDL 3.1 could go along great with this, also aiming to activate prior knowledge. UDL 3.2 would work well also since there are patterns throughout the story that could be highlighted. 5y
JennaMichelleCohn https://www.weareteachers.com/teaching-reading-strategies-activate-prior-knowled... this blog is great for teachers trying to find ways to best help younger students the the importance of background knowledge and how to activate it. 4y
DrSpalding We are teachers is such a wonderful resource! Activating background knowledge is an effective teaching practice that all teachers should utilize in their instruction. What a great book to teach science related content. 4y

Sleep like a tiger is written Mary Logue is a Caldecott winner which was published in 2012. This story is about a little girl that was not tired or sleepy. She had picked out her favorite pajamas and still did not go to sleep. She asked if everything and everyone goes to sleep. She is most interested in the tiger and where and when he sleeps. The tiger needs to sleep so he is strong and mighty.

#WinterWonderland Day 5: Instead of #RunningAcrossThinIceWithTigers - how about Sleep Like a Tiger instead? The story was made even more special with Zagarenski‘s very thoughtful, detailed art – which won the Caldecott the year this was published. It is just brimming with so much intelligence and craftsmanship. My full review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-bYe

A relaxing Realistic Tale, Caldecott award, TS's include RA, S, SR, GR and CR, is about a girl who is convinced she is not sleepy. The parents smoothly ease the girl into where, where she'll inevitably go-to bed. The artwork is very interesting and gravitating as each character has their own crown which is symbolic to the status within the household. This book also explores a bit into animals sleeping that can cooperate with a science lesson plan.

JordanL http://school.sleepeducation.com/howdoanimalssleep.aspx This could be a fun activity to go with the book about how each animal sleeps differently. This can be incorporated with a larger science lesson plan about animal habits and how they sleep within their habitats. 6y
JordanL ESOL 46 will go with the lesson plan as it delves deeper into the habits of other animals and their sleep cycles, which also includes a video to provide visual assistance. UDL 3.1 can be used to delve deeper into understanding animal sleeping habits, like the video in the activity listed and other resources with information about animal habits. #UCFLAE3414SP18 6y

This F book written by Mary Logue and illustrated by Pamela Zagarenski was awarded the Caldecott Honor Award. It‘s a lyrical narrative about bed time and how everyone has different routines, including the tiger. UDL 9.1 promote expectations and beliefs that optimize motivation. EL 4 link lesson topic to students prior knowledge. #ucflae3414f17

farynantenucci http://studylib.net/doc/7122278/sharon--sleep-like-a-tiger-lesson-plans I found this awesome lesson plan that pays tribute to the beautiful artwork in the book, allowing students to create their own textures and patterns. 6y
farynantenucci Teaching strategy RA, students can appreciate the illustrations for the after reading activity. 6y
AJones I RA this book a few months back and my kindergarteners loved it. Zagarensk‘s illustrations are beautiful. ❤️📚 6y
