Pickpick

I‘d heard of the 1972 plane crash in which the survivors had to eat the bodies of the dead to survive.Author Parrado talks about this, along with all of the other harrowing events he lived through, including an avalanche and a grueling climb through the Andes with no gear. But more than that, Parrado allows us to see what he went through mentally.Parrado‘s words about spirituality, grief, and love are profound and will stay with me for a long time.

Texreader I read Alive when I was a teenager in the 1980s. It was pretty awful and probably not what a teen should have been reading. There are scenes to this day I can‘t forget. 3y
Kelly_the_Bookish_Sidekick I have two books by other survivors of this incident that I need to read. The movie Alive is one I saw in my teens and stayed with me. I can't turn it off when it comes in. Ethan Hawke played Nando in the movie. 3y

#photoadaynov16 Two that I want to read and one I have read.

I Am Malala - I need to pick this one up soon. Maybe for #nonfictionNovember
Seabiscuit - I'm not really into horse racing, but I love this movie and want to read the book. I am hoping the book gives me the same feelings.
Miracle In The Andes - Alive was great, but this story coming directly from a survivor is uplifting. Well worth a read.
#inspiring

TheNextBook I've read both Seabiscuit and I am Malala and both were absolutely amazing. Malala is an exceptional and inspiring young woman. Seabiscuit was also incredible and I know nothing about horse racing. 7y
RealLifeReading Seabiscuit was such a great read, even for a reader not interested in racing or horses! 7y
