Grant Morrison‘s take on super hero comic history is a nice treat for a fan. Might be a bit more out there if you aren‘t familiar with his work. I feel he wanted to share is comic world view after winning a lifetime achievement award. I enjoyed the snips from his life and having the insider take on the ‘events‘ he was a part of us interesting. He is a huge part of my comic mythology. Magic is out there as all time happens simultaneously...

“Adults foolishly demand to know how Superman can possibly fly, or how Batman can possibly run a multibillion-dollar business empire during the day and fight crime at night, when the answer is obvious even to the smallest child: because it's not real.”

Megabooks Very nice!! Sometimes both worlds aren‘t real, and that‘s okay with me. 😉😁🖖🏻 5y
LiterRohde @Megabooks Interesting interpretation of the quote. I actually picked it because Bruce Wayne gets to be Batman and a billionaire. 5y
Megabooks @LiterRohde I‘ve heard a lot of superhero fans love Batman because Bruce could rest on his laurels, but instead he fights crime with no actual superpowers. I agree that‘s a pretty badass way to spend your evenings! 5y

Part history of DC and Marvel Comics, part autobiography, Supergods is a great read for fans of comic books in general and Grant Morrison in particular. And it's a steal at two dollars right now.

After a nice, albeit short, weekend, I'm breaking in my new mug and resuming work

Simona It's always a pleasure to see how enthusiastic you are about writing your thesis.👍 8y
DennisJacobRosenfeld @Simona I'm glad it shows. It's easy to be enthusiastic with such a fascinating field of study. 8y
abhisynthe Great read. What's your thesis on? 8y

DennisJacobRosenfeld @abhisynthe I agree. It's on the evolution of the American comic book as a medium. 8y
abhisynthe Cool😊 will you be covering planetary? Or stuff by image comics (nowhere men and east of west are some I unsolicitedly recommend). Strongly feel that the modern tropes cater to a deprecated good vs bad medium derived from ww2 that has been invalid for a long time now. 8y
DennisJacobRosenfeld @abhisynthe I probably won't be touching on Planetary, but I will include titles from the large publishers as well as indie companies. I agree with you that most of the large titles are struggling right now, and there's a need for change. But once in a while something truly great still comes along. 8y
abhisynthe Sounds good. All the best - and I might hit you up for a copy once it's done 😊 8y
