Today is the Last Day of the Rest of Your Life | Ulli Lust
4 posts | 2 read | 5 to read
Back in 1984, a rebellious,17-year-old, punked-out Ulli Lust set out for a wild hitchhiking trip across Italy, from Naples through Verona and Rome and ending up in Sicily. Twenty-five years later, this talented Austrian cartoonist has looked back at that tumultuous summer and delivered a long, dense, sensitive, and minutely observed autobiographical masterpiece.

I just needed to let you all know HOW GOOD THIS WAS. The artwork is so expressive and the story is adventure and heartbreak and all the big feels. Definitely a memoir to check out if you can.

When a graphic memoir is mentioned twice on your podcast, it‘s a good idea to read it. I needed a change in my reading so downloaded this. Ulli is living the punk life and it is a hard life. She sneaks into Italy and finds food and shelter where she can (she really shouldn‘t have gone to Sicily!)The art is often monochromatic and captures the emotions and unwashed hair very well, and I couldn‘t put it down while I followed her tumultuous journey.

When your work involves reading comics by Ulli Lust you‘re doing something right. My girlfriend made this beautiful breakfast for me. January Tuesdays don‘t have to suck.
