#NCBgiveaway--The Kaiser's Last Kiss! This was recently made into a movie (sorry it had that movie badge in the cover...😒) and it's about the exiled Kaiser Wilhelm, his Jewish maid, and the SS officer guarding him who falls in love with her. I'm interested to see his internal struggle with THAT one! 😳 Maybe reading about Nazis right now feels too close to home, but it you're interested, comment below and I'll draw on Tuesday. Not sure of the book...but the movie was simply fantastico! Minus the nasty parts, of course 😋

A novel about Kaiser Wilhelm. What will they think of next? Actually this smallish volume packed a big punch & I could not put it down. Set in 1940 when the German war effort is still going strong, Wilhelm continues his exile in the Netherlands, and now 80 & frail, still entertains thoughts of regaining the throne. He is cared for by loyal staff & watched over by the SS. Spies & romance add to the mix. But very serious issues add the substance.

#TBRtemptation post! Kaiser Wilhelm's last years fictionalized, spent in Holland. The Lear-like German king lives in exile at his palace there. The Nazis invade, & his staff's replaced by SS guards, let by the ambitious young Krebbs. Krebbs' brutality softens over time, especially after falling for Akki, the household's Jewish maid. Wilhelm & Krebbs agree in German expansion & the "Jewish problem", not solutions though. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook ?
