#GetMovin Day 4: When one faces monstrosities and confronts inner demons reified into creepy dancing murderous puppets, one can not help but wonder what it means, really, to be #Human. Perhaps that is what makes Gaiman‘s strangenesses work so well, at the very heart of it is the rumination about finding one‘s humanity despite (or maybe even because of) atrocities, madness, and travesties of truths and beauty.

Cinfhen This cover FREAKS ME OUT!!! Puppets give me the creeps 😱😱😱😱 6y

And I've never been able to watch a puppet show like a normal person again.

#LyricalApril Day 15: #TheMonster - Gaiman does monsters good, especially when paired with McKean. This one here is savage with a bit of madness thrown into the mix.

Cinfhen Nice choice 💞 7y
GatheringBooks @Cinfhen there is such thick darkness here, it dances like a demented puppet on a string :) 7y

For me, Neil Gaiman is at his best when paired with Dave McKean. A tale about the unreliability of memory and the violence that threatens to impinge upon childhood innocence. The illustrations are wonderful and Gaiman's writing is lean and refreshingly free of easy sentimentality.

What on earth did I just read?! This was beyond bizarre. The only reason I read this was because Neil Gaiman wrote it. I could not make heads or tales of this story, it was a total waste of time. It's the story of a young boy's life related to the Punch and Judy puppet shows and the juxtaposition of it with the real life events of his family.
