If the purpose of the PSATs is to increase the quantity of collegiate junk mail, mission accomplished. This was today's haul.

mom2bugnbee I went to Stetson! 😀 #HattersRock 7y
katedensen Oy! I can't believe they still spend money on snail mail. 7y

Up at 6 am on a Saturday to buy emergency back-up batteries for the kids' calculator, so she's 100% set for her first PSATs (which, when I was a kid, I don't think they offered to 10th graders.)

AmyG Good luck to the kid. I remember these days. 8y
katedensen Good luck to her! (Also, my name is in that book.) 8y
cariashley @katedfisher whoa you're famous! Where in the book?? 8y

Tcip @Yossarian man! Good for her! 8y
katedensen @cariashley Haha, not really. I'm not even sure I'm in the 2017 edition. I worked there in content and curriculum and designed/wrote the ELA/Verbal portions of the new PSAT and SAT programs. Here's where my name appears in a different one: http://bit.ly/2eibwn0 8y
cariashley @katedfisher ooh the special thanks section! Have always dreamed of being in there in any book, well done 😁👏🏻 8y
Mindyrecycles I took the PSAT in the 70s as a sophomore. 8y
Yossarian @katedfisher Well, I'm not giving you a special thanks for your role in propagating the military-industrial-standardized-textual complex! 8y
Dogearedcopy In the early-/mid-eighties, I took the PSATs in my sophomore year; and then two rounds of the SATs in my senior year; and that was it! Now, high school students take what seems like a specialized SAT for almost every subject as well; and the timing of the test needs to be carefully scheduled for optimum results. What a racket! Still, good luck to your daughter, though I'm sure she won't need it! 🙂 8y
katedensen @cariashley Haha I wish it were a different kind of book. @Yossarian Good! There's a reason I left 😉 8y
Riveted_Reader_Melissa Good luck to her! 8y
