I absolutely loved the film (1963) with the great Sidney Poitier, so I decided to give the book a go. Loved it. Feel good, heart warming. Homer Smith❤️

jlhammar I'm going to have to add this to my #NunLit wishlist! Just watched the film for the first time earlier this year and loved it. 2y
JanuarieTimewalker13 @jhammar The film is very true to the book, the one difference is locale…the film was set in Arizona, but the book was set in Colorado. I loved both…and the book is very thin….127 pages 2y
UwannaPublishme Love this movie! Is there really such a genre as #NunLit?! Love it! 🤔😁 @jhammer @rubyslippersreads 2y

JanuarieTimewalker13 Haha…never heard of #NunLit but that‘s cool….I missed that, somehow @UwannaPublishme 2y
jlhammar @rubyslippersreads I‘ve been meaning to watch that movie. I didn‘t know that it was a book. Thanks for the recommendation! 2y
jlhammar @JanuarieTimewalker13 @UwannaPublishme I don‘t think #NunLit is an officially recognized category, but that‘s what came to me when I made my previous post about books with nuns so I‘m sticking with it! 2y
UwannaPublishme @jlhammar @JanuarieTimewalker13 @rubyslippersreads Maybe we need a #NunLit buddy read! I‘d be up for that. P.S. Another great movie: Sister Act! 2y
rubyslippersreads @UwannaPublishme @JanuarieTimewalker13 @jlhammar A #NunLit buddy read sounds great. And let‘s not forget possibly the most famous nun movie of all, 2y
jlhammar @UwannaPublishme Great idea on the buddy read. I was thinking along those lines after my original #NunLit post. Stay tuned...I'll post something about it soon! @JanuarieTimewalker13 @rubyslippersreads 2y
UwannaPublishme @jlhammar Yay! Will look forward to more #NunLit news! And @rubyslippersreads , I think you and I are already avid readers and fans of #NunLit 😁 2y
JanuarieTimewalker13 You guys are cracking me up!!! Ok, I‘m like the slowest reader in the world and I‘m trying to tackle which was due today and has 56 holds on it and I‘m only up to page 180! So in between, I‘m going to read a 1940s library copy of Junior Miss bc I was so enchanted by Meet Me in St. Louis (no nuns, sorry!) lol @UwannaPublishme @jlhammar and @rubyslippersreads (edited) 2y
JanuarieTimewalker13 Oh my goodness, I have no idea how to insert book title in proper space🤪 (edited) 2y
UwannaPublishme @JanuarieTimewalker13 We just started talking nuns and couldn‘t stop! 😁😁😁 Of course, any books or movies with Judy Garland are also on the top of our list…with the nuns, right @rubyslippersreads @jlhammar ??? BTW, I‘m a slow reader myself! So take your time with The Winners! You can do it! 2y
rubyslippersreads @JanuarieTimewalker13 I think you can only insert a book title at the very end of your post. 😕 2y
rubyslippersreads @UwannaPublishme @JanuarieTimewalker13 @jlhammar Now I‘m trying to think if Judy Garland ever appeared in a movie that also featured nuns. 😏 2y

Simple and powerful, this short novel displays love and charity as sweeping forces for good in society, while adressing prejudice, manhood, faith, and the role of mythology in culture without feeling overburdened.
