The last purchase at my bookstore before I move this weekend. 😢 I‘ve worked there for 3 years, and I am so sad to leave. Also, I was so sad to hear that Le Guin passed away. She was an amazing writer.

#uncannyoctober day 13: I wish I could really say #lookwhatyoumademedo but I don't have anyone to blame but myself (and I suppose Book Outlet). But hey I got all these books for $55.
Also did I need another copy of Anne? Yes because it's just too dang cute.

Jabberwocky Guilty confession: I've never read any Ursula le Guin, but those two look gorgeous. 7y
queerbookreader Do you crochet?? 7y
silentrequiem I JUST placed a BookOutlet order but am tempted to place another just for those le Guins... 7y

I listened to this one.

I have to admit I was a little worried that I wouldn't like this volume of the collection, once I realized it collected the stories that take place here on Earth (as opposed to some Fantasy world or Non-Earth Hainish planet. But those fears were completely unfounded.

Many, if not most of the stories were fantastical in nature, where things that can't/don't happen do. Lots of magical realism and mythological type stories

Excellent selection of stories, I think: I'm not a huge fan of the first volume, because I prefer the fantasy/SF stories, but Le Guin's writing is always beautiful. It always makes me feel quiet inside, somehow.

Huh, 'Nine Lives' has a Welsh character. Rare enough in SF.

I feel like I need some lighter reading after what I have been reading lately, and I know this isn't really going to be lighter, but whatevs. I adore Le Guin, she is absolutely one of my top five authors all time whose grocery list I'd read if it came to that. A lot of people know her novels, but I honestly believe that her short fiction is better.
