Saw this in a bookstore in Dublin yesterday and felt a weirdly strong urge to buy it. Looks like a fun little read!!
I've been thinking about this book for awhile now having finished it about a week ago. It is definitely charming in a Southern American Gothic way so if you're really into that and need a fix this is fantastic. I was Southerned out by O'Connor so the after effect was somewhat of a slow burner. I'm very happy I read this, it has fantastic character and, I think, some really beautiful ideas. Recommend.
I read this novella a few years ago and I think about it every now and again... especially the bizarre finale. Think I'll have another read. It's about a duck called Fup and 99 year old Grandaddy Jake Santee on the outside but an allegorical fable on the inside - it is whatever you want it to be, in other words 😂
Fup by Jim Dodge is a humourous little novella/fable/fairy-tale about an old man living in the hills of California with a duck , aptly named Fup Duck. I just love the Adventures they get up to. The ending is quite bizarre and has opinions divided but if you possess an Imagination this little book will fly.
A timeless fable I recommend whole-heartedly. I'm currently enjoying a glass of wine, but remembering this story makes me crave a shot of whiskey and a few tissues. #FunFridayPhoto book with an animal on the cover. I've noticed a surprising amount of posts for this category are books with birds on the cover. 🤔🐥🐔🕊🐧
