Just started this last night right before going to sleep - bad idea!! Burned through half of it before passing out. Love Warren Ellis's prose style. So quick and funny and dark.

Annihilation | Jeff VanderMeer

The next novel I'll be studying in my Contemporary Dark Fiction course. A lot of writers I respect LOVE this book, some of my closest friends HATE it with the fire of a thousand suns... I'm 50 pages in and really really enjoying it!! There's a lot of creepy things happening already but I feel it's just begun its descent into weird and uncomfortable, I say BRING ON THE CREEPINESS!! ❤️👌🏼

Emilyrjones22 Ok, so your class just keeps getting cooler. I totally understand the polarized views on this series. Ultimately, I think it‘s really interesting (though first book def my favorite). I‘m excited for the film adaption. 7y

Bird Box: A Novel | Josh Malerman

Studying this book in a class at the moment. A lot of great moments so far but these lines are a stand out right now

JCozgrove @Emilyrjones22 Studying it in a Dark Contemporary fiction course with Richard Thomas. He's a super rad writer and editor, also heads up Gamut magazine which just started this year and is amazing. If you like dark stuff he's got you covered! :) 7y
