Mehso-so

This family was so dysfunctional and I really couldn't get past their pettiness - I'm all for characters with complexity and drama but this was all too out of reach to be relatable and I honestly just hated how negative everyone was. Relatively quick and easy read but the story didn't do it for me.

Pickpick

There's was essentially no plot so at times I struggled to get through and had to take breaks, but I really enjoyed the character of Lillian and her love affair with New York. I also as a whole enjoyed Kathleen Rooney's writing. She had so many elegantly written lines, I could have highlighted multiple pages worth of noteworthy quotes.

"Incivility is not incivility's antidote." Love this quote so much.

AlexGeorge I underlined that, too! 7y

Pickpick

This was the ultimate high school/first love story. I literally felt like I was on the bus right along with them. So perfectly reminiscent of the best and worst parts of adolescence.

Pickpick

I debated back and forth between giving this a "pick" and a "so-so" rating. It took me a while to get into it. It wasn't necessarily difficult to read, just nothing really drew me in, and I didn't feel like anything was happening with the plot line until about 2/3 of the way through. Ultimately though I choses give a "pick" because I really enjoyed all the information about Truman Capote and I enjoy anything about old school NYC and the glamour.

smh1111 I felt exactly the same way! 7y
