Many descriptions note Sleeping Giants is written in the same vein as World War Z - it's scifi on a global scale, an unfolding mystery with memorable characters. I'm interested to know if other readers found some character descriptions/developments to be a little...troperific? This is the first in a trilogy, so buckle up! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

That was part of being a girl -- you were resigned to whatever feedback you'd get. If you got mad, you were crazy, and if you didn't react, you were a bitch. The only thing you could do was smile from the corner they'd backed you into. Implicate yourself in the joke even if the joke was always on you.

The book takes on a new level of fun (and camp) when you imagine the unnamed interrogator is Spock 🖖🏼

A little *too* much angst in this apocalyptic tale; started with a bang and ended with a whimper. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Real talk: Megan Abbott is phenomenal- but this is not *her* best. Pick up Dare Me, The Fever, or The End of Everything before diving in, IMHO. A fun read during the Olympics, but not substantive beyond that. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
